But everyone knew this. Combination of series losing its luster and more competition for this type of game.

Yes but the competition is getting weaker too in the process ...

Plus with the vita being gone (the last bastion for offering portable alternatives to Monster Hunter), Capcom remains uncontested in the forseeable future ...

I don't believe competition is the reason for MHXX's poor performance on the Switch, the franchise is very much visibly losing it's strength given these factors ...

This doesn't bode well for Nintendo who has to sell the Switch and for Capcom who may end up like Konami ...

One point for Call of Duty: WW2 and Destiny 2 is good.

MHXX just shows that the business of launching an expansion game is reaching to the end. You can see a lot of Japanese people complaining about the Ultimate / G versions. People is asking to launch the G rank missions as a DLC, instead of a different game. People don't want to pay again a fully priced game just for the G rank missions. People want to pay the half of the price as a DLC.

Don't need to read to much on MHXX numbers. A lot of people complained during MH4U in Japan, and now it's the same.

what Capcom has to do is change the business and stop milking and tiring the fanbase. I think for MHW they are finally planning DLC.

Media Create Annual Archive (Spanish version)

Mhxx would really want to start moving at this stage. Only 14 days left.

@Bold Which is why I maintain that Monster Hunter World will be another test of the franchise's strength in Japan ...

Also Capcom won't be content if they can't keep going on with enhanced rereleases like they have in the past and not especially when they will actually have to put in real effort with higher production values inline with these more powerful systems ... (Capcom was able to get away with PS2 level graphics for a while when they were only transitioning between platforms of similar tier in terms of capabilities but since consumers have higher expectations than ever Capcom has to invest more in better graphics and they have to create more AND original content so reskins of existing content like in the past aren't enough. Soon Capcom will have to determine if it's worth maintaining in investing for the franchise.)

I won't read too much into MHXX but we'll have the final say with MHW and the next portable Monster Hunter game ...

Vgchartz's japanese numbers ARE reliable since their source is media create ... (Capcom's numbers also take into factor digital sales as well so that can explain some discrepancy)

Also what you posted doesn't change my point. Monster Hunter is declining in Japan even according to Capcom's own numbers ...

Even though VGC copies Media Create's numbers for Japanese sales, Media Create is also capable of being off. Capcom's official figures tell a different story. Yes, MH is faultering somewhat, but no where near how bad it looks on VGC.

...Except for MHXX Switch, that's just plain bad.

Which is why we'll find out soon enough with the other new entries ...

Holy shit 14 ps4 titles on the chart. I think that's a new record, the blue tide rises!

Welcome dragon quest x ps4. Yet more DQ for the platform already. And welcome pro evo. I wonder will we see fifa charting soon too. Anyway everybody's golf and ark moving today. I wonder will ark have a nice launch with modest legs. It's the premier monster hunter game out there atm so surely it will appeal to the japanese a little.

Boutros you didn't add the PS4 SKU of Nights of Azure 2 on the combined chart.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
