If it does and if it is exclusive - I highly doubt it will go to PlayStation so the only other potential platform is 3DS - then the Switch will explode in Japan. First HD Monster Hunter that is effectively both a console and handheld entry? Nintendo and Capcom would freaking print money. |
Yep. It fixes that problem for some/or a lot of people.

And it would also help it in the West I think. Monster Hunter has always had two issues that, imo, hamper its western market appeal: a more firm progression structure like some kind of story and the fact it is tied to handhelds. The progression thing htye are already addressing as MonHun Generations and 4 had more structure to them so 5 can just continue that trend. The Switch being a home console AND handheld fixed peoblem number two. I mean, in the west its not just that handhelds are less prominent. Our population is less dense (making local network meetups and coop highly improbable and inconvenientl), wifi is less dense and slower (meaning the places and times you can play online are much more restricted), and the game is structurely more suited to consoles especially when considering the last two points. An HD console version of MonHun (one with EFFORT PUT IN) could really help it find a good foothold in the west.
