Yeah, the 3DS version of SSB is hurting the Wii U version a lot in Japan. Shouldn't be as big a problem in the West.

Hurting sales. Hmmm i mean its not like wii u would of sold a million in japan first two days of a bad install base. Doesn't hurt it, in fact it helps out alot. wii u version will do 300k-500k first week reguardless of a 3ds version or without. Unless you think wii u lost a potential million seales.

Unless your telling me if wii u ends up with 300k and it should of been something like 800k first week.

It will hurt the Wii U version, not overall sales.

Melee sold 1.4m on a 4m install base, probably much lower when it came out. Because of the 3DS version, I don't think this will sell nearly as well.

Thats a better indicator. I think wii u will have around a 3.2mil user base. So 1.2mil would be great sales for it. I dont think it'll do under 800k. If 3ds sales hurt it, i think it will do 400k-600k lifetime. I think it'll do over 600k alone by 2015. 1mil lifetime is what im thinking.

I think we already have a winner for the Super Smash Bros bet:

Over 1 million sold (including eShop) in the first 2 days, as well as over 1 million retail shipments during the weekend.

Hiska, Nintendo announcing their shipped + digital has very little bearing on the bet I made with Clyde.

I was on neogaf all day yesterday and this argument was common. Nintendo specifically mentioned it had shipped a million in 2 days separately from what it sold. It sold a million, its not shipped in one statement. Its sold.

No. Nintendo is announcing sold (in Japanese 販売 = sold). It says sold more than a million (including digital).

Then, in the last part Nintendo says they shipped (in japanese shipped is 出荷) one million at retail.

so the meaning is Sold retail + digital = over 1 million

shipment alone over 1 million.

ther're two different sentences.

Yes, when else do people use "savvy" aside from when being sarcastic?

I have never heard it used in that context.

So clarify for me: you're saying Platinum are good with budgets or aren't?

They are big and bad, if their past statements on the subject are anything to go by. SEGA and PGames are, as far as I know, very good at throwing money to the wind. Which was why, with Nintendo involved, I said that the budgets now would be tighter... that and no one is burning a pile of cash to port the X360 game to the PS3.

I'm just in the crowd that if a publisher announces sales figures and they're not citing a source, it's shipped.
