Escort missions, quick time events and micro-transactions are an instant warning not to buy for me.

The best quote I've seen this year:

The "voices" in Fire Emblem Awakening. It's like:

Chrom -> in text "Will you marry me?"
X Woman -> in text "Yes! Yes!"
Chrom -> voice: "Good" text: "I love you"

It was funny at first but is now is weird and somewhat annoying. The only thing I don't like about this game so far

But in general I hate quick time events. Even RE4 (which is one of my fav games of all time) suffers heavily from this.

I'm sure a lot of those are lost in translation.

(But I don't really enjoy them either)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I must also add the battle music in FFX. I love the game, but the battle music tires me a lot, I wish there was a way to change/disable it.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Platforming sections in FPS games.

Really, really long sequences that span multiple areas where you can't save, which you have to clear all over again if you log out.

Boss fights that bug out AFTER you beat them. Carp you, BNK3R.

Sudden QTEs at the end of a long cut-scene that takes you by complete surprise because you decided to take a sip of water, which then means you die and have to do that segment over, including sitting through the cut-scene again. Absolutely rage inducing. I actually gave the Crysis 2 game case double middle fingers for like a solid minute.

Checkpoints before long usually unskippable cutscenes/long hallways before a dificult section like a boss fight. Would it be that hard to put the damn checkpoint after all that shit?

Zombie games that have you walk through a room full of bodies that are indestructible and unresponsive only to have them trigger after picking something up on the other side of the room.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

I hate iron sights, aim-assist. That's probably why I like Valve so much. Although CoD is a guilty pleasure.
Unskippable Tutorials especially with annoying dialog boxes.
Cover systems. Spec-Ops had a great story but it was painful to play.

Female leads in games, I just cannot connect to them and don't find their overall resolve compelling. In FFXIII, when i got to pulse, i switched off all female characters and never used them again. I'll play a game with a female lead characters if there is no other option and the game itself is worth the time but I still feel somewhat disgruntled.

I don't mind female protagonists. I've played Tomb Raider plently of times.

I just can't stand those who attack people because they like playing as a dude. If you like to play as a muscle-bound meathead then you must be a repressed homosexual according to them. (No offence to homosexuals)

it's a lot simpler than that, guys can identify with other guys. Stop trying to be a psychistrist.

The battle intro's and victory fanfare at Lost Odyssey. The first time you see them are great. After the 450th random encounter, you are just SICK OF THEM.

They go for so long.... In latter Final Fantasy games I played I remember options to make things like aeons (summons) a lot shorter. Wish other JRPGs considered this option for summons and more.

Not being able to save and quit where ever I want.
Unskippable and unpausable cut scenes.

100% this.

101% this too.

I also hate the iron sights in CoD and other FPS games. Your aiming slows down a tonne making it to easy by giving you way too much time to steady and shoot. I understand it's for accuracy but jeez... Actually, I just hate CoD.

I also have to have a light on in the room where I'm playing.

Generic Fantasy settings
Horrible plotlines
Abundance of pointless sidequests
Punishing autosaves or checkpoints
Microtransactions
Clunky Gameplay
