Forums - Movies & TV - What did you think about Iron Man 3? *SPOILERS*

Not in the mood to do a long review because the movie just isn't worth it, but the movie was terrible.

Now I'm not a huge Iron Man comic fan so what they did in the movie *SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT* to the Mandarin didn't have that much effect on me as iron man comic fan, actually I thought it was pretty funny and laughed, but putting the mandarin as an actor really killed the tone the trailers of the movie was trying to convey and what you expected of the movie going into it. But I guess that will be able to pass in IM3 because he is not as mainstream as Batman or Spiderman, if that was done to the joker you would never hear the end of it.

*End of SPOILERS*

The movie was entertaining but not for what you expected it to be, it was more funny entertaining if anything else and you will laugh a lot like if its a comedy, I forgot what was even the plot of the movie as I exited the cinema. As I was sitting through the movie and realized that this is not the movie I was told I was coming to watch in the trailers I thought to myself it would be worth it for the sneak peak at the end that all Marvel movies give you and I didn't even get that it was just more disappointment. But in hindsight it is probably a good thing because I would not want this to be part of the build up to the next Avengers movie.

I think Hollywood should let the people that direct the trailers direct the movies because they seem to do a better job.

I liked the movie a lot although the ending is very disappointing. Pepper should have stayed dead imo (yeah I don't like happy endings :p)

At the end of the movie i was left with a "Meh" feeling. I thought they went a bit too much into theme's that resonate alot with the american audience but not as much with the rest of the world.

It was ok, but it wasnt awesome. Also i think the guy that plays war machine is really bad at it. I know he is popular, but he doesnt do the character any justice in my opinion. He seems embarassed to play it actually.

"Peeper" lol

I agree with you though. It would've been a more effective ending. Marvel movies always have to end on a positive note :/

Lol yeah is double "p" not double "e"

They threw away the rock and roll stark and gave us a vulnerable one instead, whoever made that choice wants shooting. I thought it was worst of the three films although still found it enjoyable enough.

It was a fun enjoyable movie but still a dissapointment because they never topped Iron Man 1, that still remains as the best of the 3.

My main problem were the villains in this one and that the movie becomes "Transformers" in the last 30 minutes and Pepper suddenly kung fu killing the main bad guy was weak.

Also fire breath, WTF Marvel?

Another thing that made no sense was why the armor appeared to be so weak in this movie, the hot hand people was shredding them apart like paper, I mean this was armor that took a lightning bolt from Thor's hammer.
And really a truck smashing it to pieces like lego.

Since I'm a pretty big comic book guy I never saw the Mandarin's reveal coming.

Granted, it was hilarious, and Ben really sold both parts of his character (The Trevor scenes were so great). The movie lover in me loved it, the comic book lover in me was a little disappointed (The Mandarin is Iron Man's arch-nemesis after all. So I can understand the Iron Man fans being a little peeved at Shane Black and co. )

I was wondering why his videos and "Mandarin" moments seemed so over the top (him crushing fortune cookies. People calling him "The Master", etc. etc.), but the reveal made those moments seem even funnier. Might give it another watch just to see his moments in the new light.

However, my biggest head-scratcher moment was at the end when he removes the piece of shrapnel in his heart (and with that, no longer needs his arc reactor). They really don't explain it at all and it just sort of happens. I mean, the first two movies he needs the arc reactor to keep the shrapnel from going any further in his heart, and the second movie was all about him finding a new method to power the arc reactor so he wouldn't die of poisoning. If it was so easily fixed, why not do it in the 1st movie after he got home?

Other than that, I enjoyed the movie. Lots of humor, nice (if a bit over the top by the end) action sequences, good acting from the cast, and some (as said before) hilarious plot twists. Definitely better than Iron Man 2, that's for sure. ^_^

I'm been a huge Iron Man fan since before most people even heard of him (early 70's) and I loved this movie.

RE: Mandarin - I feel Marvel could still introduce a more traditional 'Mandarin' villian for IM if they want. In fact I was relieved this sudo-terrorist wasn't in fact the 'Mandarin' of the comics.

Otherwise I found the movie highly enjoyable and it really drove home (to me anyway) that it's Tony Stark that makes Iron Man such a great character/hero and not just a supersuit (or army of supersuits). Rhodes/War Machine/Iron Patriot was a great comparison here because despite a comparible armour, he'll never be equal to Tony/Iron Man.

This is now my favorite of the three movies, Ben Kingsley was great in his role, and of course Robert Downey Jr. is always great

Good, but the script is too similar to Dark Knight Rises. Better than Iron Man 2 for sure, as good as the first one.
