HMV has had this price for a month + ZombiU. That was to clear the remaining stock, and it looks like it is the same for ASDA if you check the website.

But HMV has more Wii U bundles in stock now, so if they were clearing stock just to get more back in it seems a tad silly.

Really? The last I heard they were stopping hardware sales. The remaining HMVs here in London had cleared out everything but the Beats headphones when I went in last month. I thought that the price cut was necessary what with all the stores closing so they would have space, which was why they were taking the £70 hit on each one. It happened straight after a 2-for-1 blue sticker sale on lots of things like phone accessories, so they were all really empty.
As for Asda, it just seems like too big a cut for a loss leader, so I assume they are doing the same thing. It is costing the retailers too much to hang onto the Wii Us for Nintendo for so long. It is kind of worrying, I assumed it would be an HMV one off due to their financial troubles, but if Asda are doing it too they might be giving up on the Wii U for a while.
