Forums - Nintendo - What is the cap of the memory card used in 3DS?

I got a 2GB Toshiba card, it filled up the moment I installed Fire Emblem on it (FINALLY BOUGHT IT!)  , I want to know the max storage is it 32GB or 64GB?

I think 32GB. (That's what I went for.)

It is indeed 32GB.

Unless you buy +20 games for it I doubt you'll get close to filling that all up.

But I doubt anyone but avid collectors would fill that all up.

If you buy retail games instead of digital (and dont plan to use music/videos/photos) on the memory card - what would be the best size?

Also how big are save files (average size) ;o?

save files are about 20 kb , they're small. games like fire emblem is nearly 2 gb , mario 3D Land is 1 GB.

Edit : nope I confused "Blocks" with MBs never mind.

Yeah, I think in a long run it might fill up, since I am going more and more digital nowadays (traveling around a lot)

what is everyone's memory card? the one on my phone is super fast (transered 500 sounds in five minutes) , its "Sandisk UltraBoost"  , the one that comes with the 3DS is super slow, but its free so no complaining lol

game updates? or system updates?

Game updates effect your memory , i am not sure about system updates though.

3DS games have a very wide range of sizes (some examples):

Metal Gear Solid 3D - 3.24 GB

Resident Evil: Revelations - 3.17 GB

Kid Icarus: Uprising = 1.61 GB

Fire Emblem: Awakening = 1.1 GB

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon = 840 MB

Mario Kart 7 = 660 MB

Star Fox 64 3D = 630 MB

Paper Mario: Sticker Star = 540 MB

LoZ: Ocarina Of Time 3D = 470 MB

New Super Mario Bros. 2  = 370 MB

Super Mario 3D Land = 310 MB

Save files are ususally very small, being in KBs, few would break a MB.

Just go 32 GB, you can get them at class 10 speeds at about $30 from Bestbuy.

I use a class 10 card from Transcend. It's reasonably fast.

But I guess the faster the better.
