I don't really think you can say a game isn't a masterpiece because it lacks a good story.

Then Mario 64 wouldn't be considered one. Games can be masterpieces based off gameplay alone.

I get what hes trying to say tho, those 2 games u just need to follow the successful formula that has already been established. Retro is so talented that they can create completely new gaming experiences.

There's still room to change that formula if need be; they're not locked in.

Thats true but theres not a whole lot of things u can change in a racer or rail shooter besides refine and make them better. Retro seems like a team u could literally tell them to make something nobodys seen before and would come up with an amazing game.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Please be Star Fox, please oh please make it a good one

Considering how Metroid Prime Wii is probably not even in the top 40 best Wii games, I am not sure why another Metroid Prime game would be desirable.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

But I think that series has run its course.

I agree. Prime 3 tied it up neatly and tapped out the approach's potential.

did you see the secret ending in prime 3?

besides i want a new metroid in the same vein as prime

On youtube, yes... XD

After three games, the Prime formula doesn't really have anywhere left to go in my mind; Prime 3's pointer controls and hyper mode stopped it from feeling stale, but the whole "scan everything you see, circle strafe around enemies while spamming A, backtrack to use different weapons to open different doors" thing feels like its been squeezed dry.

This is Nintendo we're talking about. As long as a property makes money, they'll find a way to continue.

Besides, I can easily think of how the series might evolve... *looks at GamePad*

I still reckon there's room to break new ground in those series. For instance, maybe make them not just a rail-shooter/racer? expand into a new subgenre perhaps?

But with the Gamepad, we'd be back to analogue aiming, which would be a big step down from Prime 3. Playing Prime 2.5 with HD and ZombiU-style Gamepad scanning doesn't sound all that exciting to me.

I read some ideas/rumors that stated retro is working on either a) a metroid reboot that involved 2-player coop and a cool new world concept... a 3rd person shooter/adventure might be cool or b) a Starfox game where the visuals look like classic sci-fi models... I think that would look awesome, at least.

If Retro's spent the last 3 years on a space shooter, it better be amazing and revitalize the genre. I would prefer a 3rd person action/adventure, but if the Starfox game could bring me back to the days of loving Star Wars, Space Invaders and other arcade classics, I might be interested.

As much as I love Metroid Prime. I don't want this new project to be yet another Metroid game. I really hope they were given a new IP to handle or asked to bring back Star Fox to its former glory.

What was so bad about Corruption?
