Never heared of them before, but it is plausible. Marcan had the WiiU hacked to a certain degree day-1, so...

Wow, 5 months.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Wii U hardware sales explosion confirmed.

It's just that simple.

"The Wiikey team, a team responsible for the most popular design of chip for early wii drives and also the xenogc for the gamecube, has made a post on their site saying they have a chip coming out for the wii U.

Not much information is available at present but they claim it is a drive emulation driven hack (sometimes known by the initialisms ODE and ODDE) and will load from USB, presumably the USB on the chip itself. Such an approach is not new with examples later on in the Wii's lifetime and more recently it also got a following in the 360 though it all has its roots in the gamecube.
How well Nintendo can defend against it depends a lot upon how the Wii U is designed but as little information is available on that front, or indeed any front, we can not elaborate much further at this point. However from what has been said it is unlikely it will allow for true region free without any further hacks unless Nintendo made a similar mistake to the one that led to the partial Wii region free (unlikely). Being a drive emulator that also means no native homebrew, probably no downloadable content and no modified games without further hacks."

Similar to how the Xbox360 is "hacked"

I hope they can just update their firmware to prevent a Wii like situation all over again...piracy is never good !

The original Wii was also hacked at around the same time, although the public version wasn't released until a year later iirc. The DS was also hacked pretty quickly. The 360 was also "hacked" like a year after launch, the problem with that one is that you will most likely get ban from Live. I know a lot of people who have a "hacked" 360 but were banned from Live xD

Really the only system that was saved was the PS3 thanks to the cell architecture, which thanks to that it might never be possible to fully hack or emulate the system.

Yeah most likely. The 360 chip to play pirated games was available pretty early on it's life, but like I say in my previous post at the risk of getting perma-ban from Live.

I beg to differ, my friend.

I guess I'll need to pick up a Wii U and a blu ray burner.

Edit: Remembered the system uses USB HDD.... even better.
