Giant monster movie in the vein of the Japanese Godzilla movies. Looks frigging incredible. Plus it's helmed by Guillermo del Toro, who's got some great films under his belt.

Any movie that presents me with the Hong Kong skyline is automatically a good looking movie.
And why haven't I heard of this movie? Was it just announced or am I just that out of touch?

I like the setting and the giant mechs being used to fight monsters ;p |
It for sure looks good. Let's just hope the story isn't a complete bore fest like some of these other Monster VS. Monster movies... bleh.
Saw the trailer months ago. Great looking special effects, will be a matter of whether the characters there have good dialogue and are likeable, we get to care about them. Otherwise it would be another Transformers.

Well he did write and direct Pan's labyrinth, one of my favorites.
Then he made Hellboy II which I found utterly boring. He was also responsible for Hellboy and Blade II, more movies I couldn't really get in to.
Pacific Rim looks to be another hero type action movie, definitely no Pan's labyrinth, so I'm not so sure about it yet.
Robots look great. :)
The "acted" characters look not so great. :(
I'll keep an eye on it for now -_-

How I felt before even saw a video. He made Pan's Labyrinth, one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen so he's earned my trust on what ever he does. I do hope someday he gets his dream project of "At the Mountain of Madness" green lit.

I never really got into Pan's Labyrinth sadly. I have enjoyed foreign language films in the past, but this did not interest me. |
Most likely. Although, I did know about IM3. It actually had trailers and teasers that I saw while out and about.
