Forums - Microsoft - The Next-Gen Xbox Is Getting a Hell of an Exclusive, Sources Say

HokageTenshi said:

sounds like the NextXbox is gonna be a shooter box again after all...

Did anyone think that MS would not have a prime shooter for the release of there next console.  Even Sony was smart enough to showcase there shooter.

Pas for the rumor I wonder if this is the reason the reveal was set in may instead of April if that date was true.  I also wonder if we are going to get more of these "out there" type of rumors.

oh boy another xbox exclusive shooter, how exciting. seriously, cant xbox have anything other than shooters?

If you actually did some research you would fine that the 360 has quite the diverse library.  Actually I remember a time when the 360 was flooded with exclusive RPGS

I scene the Illumation room demo. Its definitely cool and will sell millions. For me I wont buy an xbox like the previous Xbox's. I am all set with my tv as my window for video games I don't need anymore effects added to the room. to me it would seem annoying if anything. There are people who will love it. I think Microsoft is opening a door like the hauladeck from star trek might be a reality someday after seeing this demo. I'm good with ps3 and ps4 as my game console.

Well, this was a surprisingly interesting article.

I'm going to hold off on believing this one is true since:

a) The cost of securing actual exclusivity for what sounds like it's aiming to be a Battlefield-to-CoD level shooter would just be huge. While I'm sure it's just pocket change for MS to throw at EA for exclusivity, that kind of money could still potentially be better spent elsewhere.

b) We heard similar stuff about timed exclusivity for Destiny. Doesn't seem to be happening (yet!)

Source engine is interesting. I don't really know enough about game engines I suppose, so maybe this is completely wrong but... isn't Source quite an old engine by this point? Even if modified.

Still, if it is true then it could potentially be a massive deal, especially if they target the advertising campaign with "The next FPS from the makers of Call of Duty". Something like that, anyway (because it is going to take a bit of work to get Joe-CoD-gamer aware of a new title).

All this corporate exclusivity is confusing.  Activision & Microsoft have been in cahoots for a long time, but now it seems that Acti are (slightly) softening up towards Sony ($$$) while EA, traditionally closer to Sony, are getting closer to Microsoft ($$$?).  And Ubisoft and Sony seem to be getting closer, judging by all their exclusive DLC as of late.  Weird.

I can't help but leave my final comment about the "Microsoft-is-6-months-behind-with-Xbox-development" bit though. A little bit surprised by that, because I thought they'd actually be more like a year ahead of Sony when planning for next gen.

This news combined with all the negative rumors surrounding the next Xbox....seems to me like Microsoft has no idea what they're doing. May 21st can't come soon enough.

So MS securing a massive exclusive and Polygon confirming an internet connection us not required to play games is a bad

I cant wait for the 21st either, just to see how some users will try to downplay the info

The delayed feveal combined with this new 6-months behin schedule thing...

Ive benn wondering what they had up there sleeves as far as exclusives go. Gears or Halo would be the obvious xhoices but GoWA just came out and I dont think Halo 5 will be ready by then. Forza is possible but that alone wont be enough and I cant imagine Fable being a launch title. 360 had Perfect Dark and Kameo but neither of those did real well. So im guessing we will see 1-2 Kinext games, Forza and a new ip, probably 1st person/3rd person shooter

Kinda hard to believe an EA game would be exclusive to one console. Isn't that an oxymoron? LOL.
We heard the same thing about Destiny. That it would be at least timed-exclusive to Xbox...didn't happen.

Anyway if this true, and if this game is good, then it would be a huge incentive for me to get the next Xbox.

We've heard from other sources that Microsoft is not where they want to be at this point in the pre-launch development of Durango. A reliable source—one who was not part of our reporting about the Respawn game—tells us that Microsoft is as much as six months behind in producing content for the new console, despite an expected late-2013 launch. Another tells us that Microsoft recently cancelled several internal next-gen projects because they were not coming together as hoped. These sources have told us that, comparatively, Sony is in better shape and further along with hardware and software development for PlayStation 4.

This piece of news deserves an article all its own.

neogaf is getting some interesting posts :

"A few months ago, I spoke to someone familiar with the situation over at MS.

I kept pandering him for performance numbers and how well it translates into what we see on screen. I wanted to know if anything had changed from the leaked specs we had in the original PDF floating around.

A week after the PS4 press conference he cracked and admitted that beta kits were running hotter than they wanted. He claimed the teams is experiencing headaches trying to get all the pieces to fit together in a timely fashion. The last thing he told me was, "Performance, at this moment, is the least of our concerns."

I know this sounds like some sort of fanfic, but I am sure someone or the other can back me up on if they have the courage to do so.

Also, temper your expectations for Ryse. The animation system is supposedly janky. It's not a Kinnect title only btw, it has been converted into a full featured AAA game so that is something atleast"

very interesting this is indeed new worthy; MS should indeed wait until tall is ready, I hopefully this doesn't equal to a rushed console; we don't want another RROD like scenario for the "Nextbox"

"I really hope the exclusive rumors are false"

"Please come to PS4"

"please no xbox exclusive"

"I really hope its a myth your title will be exclusive to Microsoft"

"Really hope it is not Xbox exclusive. I was looking forward to supporting a great team"

"better now be exclusive -_- been waiting for your game and ill be upset if its just for Microsoft consoles"

"hope it comes to ps4. Bigger potential market and satisfy all your fans"

I don't see anything wrong here. Those people have every right to wan this game on their platform. It doen't make business sense to make it exclusive either. If EA/Respawn want this game to at least put up a fight against the likes of Call of Duty or Battlefield, it MUST be multi-platform. We've seen what timed-exclusivity does with games like Bioshock and Mass Effect. Considering the quality of these franchises, they don't sell very well. It's all because of poor business decisions made earlier in the generation. Bioshock Infinite should have sold double what it did at launch.

Hoping its true, have missed the excitement of 3rd party exclusives. And this will only make for fantastic competition as Sony and Nintendo up their game to compete. Though being a EA game, we all know it will only end up being a timed exclusive.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

Megaton if true

Wow.. NextBox gets an exclusive game - who would have guesed that....

And the makers say it's the coolest game ever - now noone saw that coming...

Seriously people, what is wrong with all those content-free threads that are popping up (or more precisely, are copied from other websites the minute they go up there)?

Yeah it is a big deal if it comes from EA and it is only on Xbox.

Well I respect your prediction but what makes you think that MS would consider a Kinect game a big launch title? If anything I expect Kinect to become a middle ground type machine where most games use kinect but not a full blown kinect game. Besides at the start of a new generation I expect to see several new Ip's announced.
