Forums - Sales - Japan Sales: Tsutaya Game Ranking (Apr 22 - Apr 28)

While we all know that Tsutaya is one among the many shop chains in Japan, and that this rank not always reflect the actual japanese market sales, it´s impressive to see how 3Ds titles can sustain such long legs. Tomodachi Collection sure is the big hit right now.

But I wonder... why does it appear two times in the charts, #2 and # 13 ?

Nintendo's way to double dipping the charts.

Wait until Pokemon x/y comes out, it'll take 4 slots off the charts.

I see the Vita had a couple of releases this week in japan.

I expect those Vita games to be higher in MC since Tsutaya apparently is a family friendly store, and those game don't really seem to be the type to sell well to that base.

We gonna see those 3 3DS titles up there for a loonnngggg time aren't we. God, Monster Hunter 4 really needs to come out and shake things up. Getting boring around here.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Tomodachi will rise in next week's charts (Golden Week 29/4 - 5/5). Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 2 both will rise in sales, too. Tomodachi staying at #1 on Amazon Japan. http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=pd_ts_zgc_vg__more?pf_rd_p=95606606&pf_rd_s=right-7&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=637830&pf_rd_m=AN1VRQENFRJN5&pf_rd_r=142YHPD07FB0VQQK2PRK Dragon's Dogma dropped to #20, PhotoKano Kiss for PSV dropped to #82, Soul Sacrifice out of Top 100 already.

Tomodachi must have dropped badly if it's beaten by a re-edition of a game. Same for Luigi if Naruto manages to hold better.

PhotoKano and Mugen Souls Z don't look like too hot. I hope they end up higher in MC...

And Tomb Raider is really too high, I want it to bomba more!

Dragon's Dogma is actually pretty popular in Japan...

But it's just a re-release. It can't possibly do stellar numbers, can it?

I'm actually surprised Dragon's Dogma is at the top. Considering Tsutaya is supposed to be family friendly, I was expecting a firm hold from Tomodachi. I expect it to be the other way around in Famitsu/Media Create though.

Actually quite an interesting update today. 10 new games! So while everyone is shouting "Omg no Soul Sacrifice!" (which is true, of course), there's also no MonHun 3G; Run for Money; Taiko no Tatsujin or any other game which has traditionally been showing legs. So, there's that.

Tomb Raider is way higher up than I expected it to be, might have a pretty decent opening with that placement. I'm also surprised Labyrinth Cross Blood Infinity charted, too. Experience Inc. had a nice hit on their hands with Demon Gaze but it was a brand new game; LCBI is a port of a port. Will probably translate into pretty poor sales though, #17 ain't too hot, but still, I doubt they need much money to recoup the costs of porting it (considering 25k first week was a big surprise for DG).

Photo Kano Kiss & Mugen Souls Z opening a lot poorer than I expected, though. The optimist in me hopes that's just, again, because of Tsutaya's family-friendly focus, but still. It's not looking like either of them will match up to the opening week of their predecessors (33k for Photo Kano; 23k for Mugen Souls).

Interesting update nonetheless. New games make things more fun!
