I have a more accurate crystall ball than all of you:

Nintendo Wii:  100,324,426

Sony PlayStation 3: 88,324,462

Microsoft Xbox 360: 78,976,223

Nintendo WiiU: 72,162,934

Sony PlayStation 4: 95,101,894

Microsoft Xbox 720: 86,666,666 (the console of the devil)

lol. There is no reason to believe the PS4 will do well at this point.

It is the most powerful, so were PS3 (currently last, should end up 2nd)
Xbox (2nd, a long way from first)
N64 (2nd, a long way from first)

The WiiU has the most announced games, the best price competitiveness and is the successor to the winner of the previous gen. Anyone who predicts anything other than WiiU win had better come up with some damn convincing arguments, and no bullshit about most powerful helping.

I 100% agree.

But for a Joke, SNES was the most powerful and outsold the Genesis by 80% , but the market was different then, and SNES had a big name after the super successful NES. Genesis also stole a lot of sales.

Weakest graphics usually results in winning console, unless that console was released prematurely into the gen, like the Dreamcast.

Actually the NeoGeo AES was the most powerful console of the 4th gen.  But yeah we saw how that sold.....

I really can't see Sony being able to release the console for less than $499.99, and they'll be making a loss on each unit sold at that price imo. They've raised around $6bn by selling two office buildings and shares but you've got to consider that every other division of the company is haemorrhaging cash at the moment, and $6b isn't a great deal of money in the grand scheme of things these days.

You'll see both the PS4 and 720 having decent launches the same way the Wii U did but from the start of next year onwards sales will slump.

I just can't see the other consoles catching up with the Wii U.

I agree with everything, except the bold. The PS4 isn't as large of a graphical leap from the PS3 as the PS3 was from the PS2 or the PS2 was from the PS1 (PS3-PS4 is a 9x graphical jump, PS2-PS3 was about 30x, and PS1-PS2 was also a large number too).

Since Sony is making a profit off the $250 PS3, and since the compenents for the PS4 imitate a similarly priced tower, I think Sony is making a small profit on their system.

As for the sales slump, PS4/Nextbox releasing will probably make a big push for people to switch to the next gen. So Wii U sales should pick up a lot, and the PS4/Nextbox slump will not be as bad. Wii U should hold first, for the whole gen I think, but for a couple years at the very least.

Nintendo needs to work on getting more 3rd party support. Just Dance and Zumba Fitness really helped the Wii, Nintendo needs 3rd party support like that.

Nintendo's lack of third party support severely damaged its sales in the N64, Gamecube and Wii U. Wii sales could have been more if it had a decent third party support. Nintendo relies too heavily upon first party in house Nintendo franchises to sell its systems. Nintendo relies to much upon Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda and Smash Brothers series to sell systems.

Both Sony and Microsoft have excellent third party support. Sony has the advantage in regards to exclusive games but that has diminished from PS2 era to PS3 era with games becoming multi-platform and appearing on Microsoft's XBox 360. Microsoft has lack of exclusive game series and it relies heavily upon Halo, Gears of War, Fable and Forza series. Sony still has a lot of first and second party developers that make games exclusive for the Playstation console systems.

The N64 had problems due to the media used, same with the GameCube. The Wii had problems with the TEV Unit in Flipper/Hollywood giving the GPU a nonstandard rendering pipeline.

The Wii U isn't going to have these problems, and it's going to have a superior marketshare for a while unless the PS4 and 720 fly off shelves. You'll see the Wii U getting a SKU of all major third party titles during these next few years, even after development for the PS3 and 360 dries up around 2015. Once the likes of 3D Mario, Mario Kart 8, Retro's new title, Zelda U, SSB U, Metroid, Wii Sports U etc hit shop shelves the consoles are going to sell and third party support will come unless publishers don't want to stay in business.

Nintendo have recently been talking to retailers about their plans for the Wii U and it appears that any previous concerns they've had have been laid to rest.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I've got serious concerns that this gen is going to finish Sony.

"The Wii U isn't going to have these problems"

The Wii U is already having problems with third party support.

which is why its already being skipped by many publishers and developers, on games releasing on both 360 and ps3, and why the company im working for, a very large, very well known company, has no plans to bring its upcoming ps3/360 ps4/720 titles to the wiiu either right?

Nothing personal, but seeing as how you expect the Wii to sell only about 200,000 more units when it's currently moving around half of that amount every month, I wouldn't put much stock in your 8th gen predictions either.

Same with the PS3 all the sudden making a 5 million gap above the 360 when its taken about 7 1/2 years to make a 5 million gap below the 360 to less than a million in recent weeks.

You've left out the preceding paragraph in my post you've quoted. The problems the Wii U isn't going to have are with storage media and the hardware. Like I've said, those AAA first party titles are going to shift units and you're not going to see publishers leaving money on the table when the Wii U has a superior marketshare.

You'll see third party support increasing after this Christmas, they're not going ignore a console with an installed userbase between 8 and 10m+ that's easy to port games to and from.
