| snowdog said: I really can't see Sony being able to release the console for less than $499.99, and they'll be making a loss on each unit sold at that price imo. They've raised around $6bn by selling two office buildings and shares but you've got to consider that every other division of the company is haemorrhaging cash at the moment, and $6b isn't a great deal of money in the grand scheme of things these days. You'll see both the PS4 and 720 having decent launches the same way the Wii U did but from the start of next year onwards sales will slump. I just can't see the other consoles catching up with the Wii U. |
I agree with everything, except the bold. The PS4 isn't as large of a graphical leap from the PS3 as the PS3 was from the PS2 or the PS2 was from the PS1 (PS3-PS4 is a 9x graphical jump, PS2-PS3 was about 30x, and PS1-PS2 was also a large number too).
Since Sony is making a profit off the $250 PS3, and since the compenents for the PS4 imitate a similarly priced tower, I think Sony is making a small profit on their system.
As for the sales slump, PS4/Nextbox releasing will probably make a big push for people to switch to the next gen. So Wii U sales should pick up a lot, and the PS4/Nextbox slump will not be as bad. Wii U should hold first, for the whole gen I think, but for a couple years at the very least.
Nintendo needs to work on getting more 3rd party support. Just Dance and Zumba Fitness really helped the Wii, Nintendo needs 3rd party support like that.
