The PS3 may even reach 100 million console systems and continue the tradition of PS1/PS2 all sell over 100 million console systems. PS3 may eventually sell more systems than the Wii and win this console sales generation. PS3 is closing down the sales gap on the Wii down to 24 million and is now roughly equal to the XBox 360 in total sales.

It will not. It would take another 4-to-5 year of the PS3 selling at current levels for it to hit 100 million, so unless the PS4 doesn't sell all that well and people opt to keep buying the PS3 instead I doubt the PS3 will make 95 million. Because once the PS3 came on the market it took that long for the PS2 to sell 10 million units.

At current levels, the PS3 is selling 13M per year despite having no price drop in years. So, at current levels, it will take 2 years to hit 100M.

And get your facts right. The PS2 sold about 50M after the PS3 hit the market including 13.7M in 2007.

At current levels the ps3 is sub 10M a year and this number will get smaller as wii u becomes more popular and the ps4/nextbox release. ps2 sold the equivalent of 36% the install base after the ps3 released. I don't think the much less popular ps3 will get close to that. 100 million is the top it could get.

No, it's not sub 10M. The PS3 + PS2 sold 15.6M last year, afterall so I question where you got your numbers from. And you're also forgetting that the PS3 is priced higher than what the Wii cost at launch. But it's funny seeing Nintendo fanboys denying what is happening - that the PS3 is moving on to be the winner of this gen.

check the ps3 current weekly sales. multiply by 48 and then raise a little because of holydays. it would result in 8 or 9M tops and this number will only go down.

I prefer to use official numbers where we can. And in 2012, the PS3 sold about 13M.

Why 48? there are 52 weeks in a year. Raise a little because of holidays? If selling 45% of the entire years total during a span of 3 months is "a little" then yeas, you add a little. And lastly, why take current totals? VGC has been undertracking both 360 and ps3 for months. Sales have not drop as much as VGC shows. Sony has shipped over 13mil playstation 2 and 3 in the last 9 months alone. If you think Ps2 takes up 1/3 of that you are crazy.

13.9 to be exact and in the last 9 months Sony shipped another 13.1million Ps3s and Ps2. Sony only shipped 4.1m Ps2s in 2012FY and during Christmas they only shipped 900k. I doubt Sony has even shipped 3mil Ps2's in the last 9months which would put Ps3 at 10mil with a quarter worth of shipments left. For comparison 360 shipped 1.3mil in the same quarter. If Ps3 matched that (which should be easy) it would put Ps3 at close to 11.5mil for the year.

I think we won't be seeing Zero999 in this thread again V_V

Herro, I come from 4chan, and I've been lurking here for sheer amusement, I decided to post the most accurate prediction of this generation of Video game consoles. First off the WiiU will win this "gen" no doubt, secondly Microsoft and Sony will be split so I'm unsure who will take second and third place. It's obvious Sony and Microsoft are going after the same audience who don't just play games but use it as a multimedia player, Nintendo will obviously go at just people who play vidya. For the conclusion my predictions are: 1st WiiU, 2nd Xbox1080*, 3rd PS4*.

*asterisk means subject to change.

PS4 20-35 million

Sony has been in serious decline in the past 8 years, this is exemplified with steep declines of PS3 and Vita from prior generations.. Expect that trend of decline to continue.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Hilarious joke. Sony is in decline but yet is still selling more than the competition on a weekly basis. Expect that trend to continue when Ps4 launches. Wait... that makes no sense. On top of that Sony only sold about 105mil Ps2's by the time Ps3 released. Ps3 will be over 80mil by the Ps4 releases. It isn't as big of a decline as you think.
