Forums - Gaming - Call of Duty: Ghosts ~ New Story, Setting, Cast & Next-Gen Engine Says Retailer

Problem is not with CoD, the franchise is child of its times, it is the audience and there lies the problem, on the other hand this and GTA changed videogame market forever.

Yamauchi once told that large western companies know nothing about gaming, he was true and false at same time, they know nothing but they know how to address primitive mob, it is their best asset, they can't be wrong here.

And this the influx of mob to videogaming was crucial to their success, it was exactly this what put Japanese dominance over videogaming to an sad end, it was Sega of America and western 3rd parties that invented this.

God I want this franchise to die out

Couldn't agree with you more.

i dont. i want the game to be a quality product again

This is what I want too - I thought that COD 1-4 were very high quality. If Infinity Ward made another game like those 4, then I'd be happy to pick it up. Unfortunately I don't see that happening  - ever

Those 4?

So Call of Duty 3 was better than the original Black Ops? Seems legit.

And we all know Infinity Ward is the only company to make games in the CoD series.

Seems legit to me! And Infinity Ward is the only company to have made quality CoD games in the past

Infinity Ward didn't make CoD 3. But you said "those 4".

Explain what features you liked from Classic CoD games that are missing the modern games.

Right, right, right - that was my mistake in the way I worded it

In a nutshell: Classic CoD games had authentic gameplay, immersive experience, and interesting varied mission types. But most importantly (for me at least): the level of research that went into classic CoD games was extremely high. Infinity Ward used to know that realism depends on more than just graphics. They actually hired military historians as consultants and interviewed WWII vets about their experiences for the first few if I remember correctly. This made the games feel authenic. This high level of research carried on in CoD 4:MW and it shows. But it was all downhill from there and now the games have devolved into annual, mediocre, Michael Bay-esque multiplayer games - because Activision knows that sells.

Keep in mind this is all my opinion though - I value the level of dedicated research and realism the first 4 had (I played CoD up to CoD:BO and then stopped).

Yeah the series has jumped the shark in single player.

While I still like the storyline in the Call of Duty games. Most people have stopped caring about it.

If you're looking for a singleplayer experience then I would look elsewhere.

It's a lot easier to come across as authentic when you are recreating battles from an actual war that happened than it is when you're creating your own story. That said, to this day, both studios still bring in experts and histrorians and military personnel to research things and are always on the cutting edge in terms of the weapons, tech, and gadgets they include in the SP.

lol at all the sheep whining.

I used to feel the same way. but it is what it is. people still seem to like the gameplay. I personally dont, but others seem too. I do think that the next gen will be the best time for another shooter to try and take the crown. we will see.

I honestly feel that CODs success has actually done more harm to the industry then good and seeing it go the way of Guitar Hero would put such a huge smile on my face. but thats another thread and another discussion

If you're gonna make the silly claim that it hurt the industry, you should atleast elaborate on it.

I'd argue the franchise raised the bar on shooters and helped push hardware. I don't see how that hurt the industry.
