Forums - Nintendo - Ok so was Super Mario World always this hard?

So just DLed SMW onto Virtual console to play it for the 1st time since the GBA port and....

Wow I keep dying. Something about the physics is not the same as the NSMB series. Trajectories confusing the crap outta me. (Also how does one unlock Luigi?)

Don't you press L or R at the select screen? Been awhile.

The GBA port lets reduces you to Mushroom state on being hit from a Cape or Flower state. The SNES game (and VC) reduce you directly to small Mario.

Haha, that's funny cause I feel the same way about NSMB's jumping physics and mechanics.  SMB3/SMW are how 2D Mario should be... NSMB feels like playing a 3D Mario game from a 2D perspective.

And you don't "unlock Luigi"... it's called Player 2.  Even the NSMB series got that one right lol.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Use D-PAD.. I use analog but im a freaking ninja

Try using the d-pad again. It's hard to do the jumps and trajectories with the joystick

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

It isn't that hard, specially compared to Mario 3, especially compared to Mario 3's last world. lol If you want to finish it quickly find the star shortcut early on after getting into the the first cave in the world map, but then no one wants to do that as that's like not playing the game at all, right?

Spam the first level with the first turtle, grab it, release it, follow it and let it kill everything in front until you grab the life. Spam it like there's no tomorrow.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

No, probably the easiest Mario game. I beat the game when I was about 6-7.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

After playing around a bit I do confirm that the Analog was indeed part of the problem. Must better with D-pad.
Also helps if I play on the Gamepad instead of my TV for some reason. Much easier now and I've gotten used to it.

NSMB gonna be a hard to play after I finish this though.
