Why do we need 3 very similar consoles?

Around the Network

Can we PLEASE wait until we know:
-launch price
-launch games/third party exclusives ( and I´m talking about games that actually do exist, not those Resident Evil/Devil May Cry-PSP, Bioshock PS Vita games)
-Nintendo´s holiday line up (E3 )

At this point, the outcome is simply not possible to predict properly, we don´t know enough about Nintendo´s future direction, about the PS4, heck, the new XBox isn´t even announced yet.
...we will see !

I kinda have to agree with the OP, though it's way too early to tell how things will go down just yet. Had Nintendo gone with a more powerful system that could get ports from PS720 they could have taken this gen to town.

But let's not forget that 3rd party games don't do well on Nintendo consoles! Now, whether or not that has to do with that the 3rd party games that comes to Nintendo consoles are crappy versions or that people only play Nintendo games on Nintendo consoles I don't know, but fact is 3rd party games don't do too well....

they dont do well because of the demographic nintendo consoles sell to. lets be honest with our selfs and not joke aruond here, nintendo consoles mostly sell to kids, i dont see why people would take offense of that here but that is the reality. if you were going to buy a console for your kid what would you buy? a nintendo one. are there adults who buy nintendo consoles and enjoy them? yes, but they are a small niche. so when 3rd parties release games targeted at adults they just wont appeal to younger gamers who like games like mario. nintendo knows this, see their adds they always try to have the family having image (look at the recent Need for speed add). and the way they make their games they make it to appeal to kids. the animations, sound, humor and a lot of other stuff is created for kids to like. so parents buy nintendo for their kids, and their kids certainly wont be interested in metal gear or dead space.

Maybe you're right, maybe it's mostly kids that play the system - but what about their dads? Do they go out and by a PS360? If Nintendo made a console that got each and every multiplat game as Sony and MS got, wouldn't it make more sense to simply have one console for the kids and for dad?

i honestly cant give you a straight up answer because i dont like to talk shit out of my ass without any real evidence to it. but i would say some dads play with their kids, some dads just put the console in the kids room just for the kids, others just buy a ps3/360 because it has exclusives and features that appeal to adults more. and some dads dont even play video games.

@ bolded, it does but that isnt the case with consoles. the only console that could pull it off is the PS3, since it does try to have content for everyone. but i wouldnt say it pulls it of completely and that doesnt happen much

If you want an honest answer, make a thread and ask the people who don't like Nintendo games why they didn't buy a Wii. The question would essentially be if the Wii was worth buying for third party games alone.

By the way, the Need for Speed ad wasn't made by Nintendo.

i assume you mean if it is worth buying for first party games, not third party?

and i if i made that thread i wouldnt get an honest answer, just a bunch of people fighting about exclusives

I meant what I said.

Why don't people buy Nintendo home consoles for third party games? If you don't know the answer already, you should ask people.

the answer would be the same pretty much everytime. the other systems have by far the better third party support.

Indeed. So if the quality of third party games on Nintendo home consoles isn't up to par, then why blame owners of Nintendo home consoles for not buying those games? You wouldn't buy those games either, even if the genres were right up your alley.

ok now i get your point, but i feel that you and me are not really on the same page. you are saying why should nintendo console owners buy third party games when they are not as high quality games as nintendo's while im trying to say why when third party games release on nintendo consoles they dont sell as much as the versions of other consoles.

Well they did none of those things. Is it safe to say they won't win this gen? Even with the Wii they didn't truly win when it comes to games library.
