Hopefully this means we won't have to wait quite so long for new announcements, footage, and dates for Wii U.

This is part of their strategy to move away from E3 I take it.
Still not sure if good or bad. We'll let time tell.

well nintendo said e3 will be about already announced games, so I expect a massive NDirect on Wii U sometime before then.

Agreed 100%.
I'm getting tired of the 3DS being showered with all the attention while the Wii U is left to starve.

My thoughts exactly...

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!
I think I heard something about the last ND being 3DS-centric, with another one for the Wii U coming soon. That's the idea I got before last week's ND at least!
Anyways exciting stuff. The last few ND's have been remarkably good, and last week was just utterly amazing. Wii U's last one was quite good as well announcing LoZ:WW HD, Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei, New Monolith game, Yoshi's Yarn and Wii U Party. They also said to wait for E3 for the new 3D Mario and Mario Kart games as well as Zelda info. So now that E3 is gone out the window (in terms of announcements), I'm assuming we're seeing these games soon on a ND, and hopefully sooner rather than later!
I'm honestly believing that second half of 2013 will get huge Wii U support, so let's just wait and see.

I'm not sure they want to move away from e3. I think that they have to manage the fact that Sony and Microsoft are going to get huge attention at e3 this year due to new hardware coming out and so Nintendo has to be very strategic about how and when they release their information to make sure as many people as possible notice the information when it is revealed. And they are continuing to take advantage of the fact that media and investors/analyists are gathering e3 and want to get them to information they need in the best possible way. Pretty sure the media event will be similar to a e3 press conference of days gone by.
