Saw this the other day.
Amazing - they expect a 6 year old to be responsible for their own timeliness.
The school administrators are becoming more incompetent every year.

It's not like the kid can just take their self to school not at that age. It is the parents fault, schools never take that into account. I bet she was literally minutes late. Like at my school, i used to be late by 5 minutes and they gave me a half hour detention. so stupid!

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

As i remember it, the rationale is that the district can provide transportation for all students if needed, so if you are late and its not the district's fault, it's your fault, though usually this applies more to juniors and seniors who have a tire blow out on the way to school: not their problem, you could have taken the bus.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I used to get detention all the time in grade school. I went to a private Christian school up till 5th grade. I would elect to get spanked sometimes to avoid detention. They probably got rid of spanking option. Anyways, I've gotten detention for barely anything. This detention you would have to do homework and write a sentence over and over again like Bart on The Simpsons. Usually I would write the first word 100 times or whatever then move to second word and so on. I believe I was faster doing the stupid sentences that way. Write so much my hand hurt and left hand was full of pencil marks (I write with my left hand). So I can't say I feel her pain since I literally experienced way more.

Parents are idiots, can't take care of their children in a timely fashion, and then get upset and point the blame elsewhere when trouble hits.

Pathetic.

Detention's too good for her, she should have been expelled. No, that's too merciful, send her to the juvie! How else will she ever learn?

j/k

they should let the kid stay in the kindergarten till next day, no tardiness anymore

Actually, the parents did take responsibility by offering to volunteer at the school in lieu of the detention as a punishment for their lack of punctuality.  Their problem is the shcool is still punishing the child instead.

Oh. Where does the article say that? I missed it. If the parents were willing to take the punishment instead, since it was their fault, then yeah I would have preferred the school just let them do that. Rules are rules, though, and they apparently signed off on the papers in the beginning of the year. Sucks, but oh well.

I do disagree with the overall sentiment of the article that no punishment should be given, or all kids would show up late for school...
