There is nothing in the ads showing why this would be fun. Paying some people to smile on camera does not a good ad make. It doesn't even look like Nintendo knows why the new gamepad is fun.

They are horrible for families. An ad like this should be subtle and let the mom/head of family look at it and think "hey I think this would be great for us!" Instead the ad has to directly highlight the parents saying these things. There are much better ways to reach these families.

They are family friendly. That doesn't mean the only people they should care about are families, especially at launch when traditionally it's the big gaming fans (of all ages of course) that buy systems.

There is no need to be subtle for this kind of audience, these ads are aiming for dumb.

Dumb ads for dumb people. Note: not literal dumb, but dumb as posessing a very basic knowledge of the gaming industry.

Sure, but that doesn't change things. Knowledgeable of the industry or not, these are bad ads.

No, I'm part of the masses or the casuals or the not dedicated fanbase. Whatever you'd like to call.

I'm from the kind that choose an iPad above any other tablet just because is from apple, or buys a Galaxy SIII because is cool to have it or played Wii Sports with my friends no matter the graphics, online or motion waggles.

I know for a fact the black family are not actors. The father makes vids on youtube and really did upload that christmas vid of his kid screaming when he unwrapped a Wii U. Im not sure about the other families though but why so much hate for a family oriented commercial? Do some of you guys here live by yourselves with no one to communicate or play with?

Yes...that has to be it. I mean it possibly can't be that people think the commercial sucks. It has to be because it's a family oriented commercial...good logic there

No, I'm saying the commercials suck because they actually suck. They don't tell people why they should get the wiiu and they do not tell them about the actual GAMES, you know, the reason people buy consoles/handhelds. If I didn't already have a wiiu I would not have been convinced by these commercials.
