Wow, this is what you take away from a  free promotion ? Wow !

Yep Nintendo is super desperate to sell their games. That's why Luigi's Mansion 2 is going for 56€ instead of 40€ on amazon.de. Nobody wants it.

Edit: I wonder if I can register Luigi's Mansion twice and be eligible for the promotion since I have two registration codes.

Sadly, that doesn´t work , they only let you register one game ( I tried it with Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance back in the day )

If I get some money soon, LM, MH3U, Fire Emblem and then I have to decide. Never played Animal Crossing, but I already own DKC3D. Not interested in castlevania or Lego Stories. Hmm....

Oh well, I'm getting DKC anyway, so no big deal. I'm still not sure what game to get. AC: NL is the biggest name on that list but that type of game doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm also not a big fan of Pokemon. I have MH3U on Wii U and only play my handhelds at home anyway. LEGO City on 3DS seems to be a throwaway d-team effort from the review I have read so far and Castlevania will probably end up being dirt cheap in the near future so I'm reluctant to waste my free game on this....

I really need Etrian Odyssey IV on that list.

I think if it were buy 2 get one free then it would've been easy. I feel the same way, I don't want to buy 3 games for the sake of getting a 4th which might end up as shovelware..

Have you played one of the older Mystery Dungeon games on the DS ? They aren´t traditional Pokemon games, they are quite different (and pretty good !) Castlevania is pretty meh all around , I´will probably get Lego....(I must own the rest in physical form !)

It's just that giveways of such recent releases are not commonplace. I sense some panic mode here imho. Such plan implies that they don't expect the average 3DS owner to buy more than 2 games in that period (hence they offer a 4th one at 3 purchases) : this must be behind their objectives. And last Xmas in France they were giving a free digital copy of Professor Layton 5 for every purchase of the system. Such agressive marketing clearly suggest they're in a though spot with 3DS in the West.

They really do want those sales in the West. But not really tough spot, just not very satisfied with the sales. Really, this is pushing people to tryDLed games more than anything else. If they can get people to regularly DL games that means massive profit in the long run.

Wondering where a similar promotion is for NA though. I guess the XL + game promotion was it.

I don't think that anybody here assumes that Nintendo does this out of the goodness of their heart. So you are kind of stating the obvious here: Nintendo is not as happy with their handheld sales as Sony apparently is.
