I grew up in Brentwood, Long Island, which is pretty damn crime heavy pal. I have experienced many of the same things you have. However, I wisened up and learned to understand the way things work.

You know how to stay out of trouble? Easy. Mind your business.

Yeah, I minded my own business too, that is why I have a couple jobs and moved out of that area. However, that didn't stop me from being assaulted numerous times previously.

I've known people in gangs, and the mob. They've all been caught and done time at one time or another because of the laws we have. I don't see what the problem is. Sure they commit the crime, but there is no way to prevent crime, there is only a way to deter criminal behavior, and that is to make people think that they will be caught.

I have broken teeth on the top because of minding my business, but I understand that some people are just assholes and nothing will change that.

No matter though, justice was served. One is a deadbeat fuck and other asshole had a tough life and hung himself.

Know what though? I don't bother myself in that stuff. I worry about my family. I worry about what life I can provide for my daughter in future.

Can I pay the bills? Can I pay for her schooling? Can I pay for her wedding?

I don't care about guns. You know why? Because I know shit is fucked up regardless of these laws. To insure the safety of my family I will educate them on these firearms, and if necessary I will purchase one myself.

Everyone should have the right to do what is deemed necessary to feel safe.

I worry more about wondering why my fiance is a LPN and I work Aerospace and we struggle to afford a fucking 2-bedroom apartment while paying for insurance, gas and other living expenses.

Much more important (As terrible as it may sound) than the vast minority that get hit with a bullet.

Ummm, what's to worry about? Obviously there is some financial burden you're not mentioning.

I live in Boston, in a rather expensive area, and I can afford everything I need, and I work at a bar, and my gf works as a manager of a comic book store.

Oh, and we have a one bedroom, a pool, parking, heat and elec included.

EDIT: Oh, and she spends a ridiculous amount on clothes. I probably pay double your rent.

Okay then hot shot, what do you pay?

Well, I don't know where you're from, but I pay 1100. Perhaps that was a bit overzealous on my part, but I figured if you worked in aerospace it would have to be somewhere cheaper than boston.

Long Island is expensive. So much that my best friend growing up moved to Boston last year because it was cheaper.

I pay $1,600/month for a 2-bedroom. I need to pay that because I have a daughter who is about to turn 4.

You have any idea what daycare costs? Can't survive unless BOTH of us work.

I'll give you an idea. I have it easy, for ~$200/week. ~10k/year in daycare. But you know what, let us worry about whether or not the guy down the block can have a gun.

Then why are you living in long island first of all?
Second of all, you use gas heating.

What kind of help do you want with your bills?
You need a new place is my first thought. That would free up a ton of money.

You do have that right, hence why you can go and buy a gun with that clean record of yours and it will only take you three days to get one. What's the problem?

Sure bills are more important, but what kind of legislation do you want them to pass to help you with that???

It's all about freedom and shit, the role of the government should only be to stop dem faggy boys from getting married not to stop the mentally unstable from getting weapons of mass murder

note: this is sarcasm I know mods here like to ban people if they don't had ''j/k'' or ''sarcasm'' at the end of their post

Even as sarcasm it's really pushing a line as far as the bolded goes.

I guess theres going to have to be another school filled with small children for sacrifice before the US govenrment changes their stance on Gun Laws...I swear the politics in America just seem to be a case of who can undermine who more

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I said I grew up in Brentwood. I now live in Selden. It is safer here, but I am not naive enough to think that anyplace is absolutely safe. Nothing is ever safe.

I use electric heating. My place is the downstairs of a house, so washer and dryer are also including, which saves ~$40/month in laundry bills.

Want to know why I live here? Easy. My parents are here. My fiance's parents are here. Both of our siblings are here. My nieces and nephews are here.

What does my family gain from moving away from all of that? Please, tell me.

I'm sorry but the argument that guns would help in those situations is just as faulty as saying gun control prevents crime. In all these incidents not a single murder was stopped by someone with a gun, except for a cop.

And how is that possible? People are allowed to have guns, yet still can't prevent crime. It appears to me that even the citizenry fails at preventing crime.

The problem is that those who will commit these terrible crimes won't be stopped because of these laws.

My argument is simply that there is much more important things for our government to be focusing their attention on.

I am sure you didn't vote Obama in twice (Like I did) to focus on gun laws. I guess he was hit with that Romnesia he was talking so much about.

I know. We need to change laws.

Schools should be locked up with no visitors and teachers should be armed. No gun ban law will stop criminals from commiting crimes.

You can't stop crazies from trying to do crazy shit. But you can shoot them when they try IF you have a gun and you can slow them down with a solid locked door.

Only responding in regards to your question of "What help do you want?"

I don't want help to pay my bills. I put myself in the situation I am in.

I just want our government and our president to focus on what we put him in office for. I can tell you right now that it wasn't gun laws.
