By the time the next-gen consoles launch, Nintendo will have planned a "second launch" for the U, with a slew of games to come out by that time and no sooner, kind of like they did when they launched DKCR, Epic Mickey, Epic Yarn, Just Dance, MJ the experience and a bunch of high-selling games in the same timespan.

I think they're going to do the same thing for the 2013 holiday season, in time for the launch of the next-gen consoles, so people going to the store for the PS420 will see them with gen 7 games, and will see the U with a slew of next-gen games and they will go nuts.

You're right. I think that after the launch it will boost the sakes bit during the launch period it will drop off considerably.

However, once PS4 and 720 launch those same people will then say "Yeah, now I want a WiiU."

I believe Nintendo's strategy is the same as the 3DS... where it let the vita think it had a chance.. then once it released kick its ass! ... Nintendo will let the PS4720 think it has a chance.. and then kill it once it comes out.. by releasing their AAA first party titles they been working on secretly!.. such a brutal strategy really.. lol

And no, I don't think other consoles will boost the Wii U sales - if anything, they can be hurt even more if the new consoles bring new levels of awesome. The Wii U boost will come from games.
