cause this country (america) are cave dwellers and like it that way.  we can spend trillions on wars and defense but buried power lines and high speed internet noway.  nothing said it more than when japan announced the fastest high speed train the news in us had a town pulling up the asphalt roads to save money.

Someone explain gigabits vs gigabytes to the crowd please.

I've heard a friend complaining he has a fine ass connection of 150 mb per second but he can't download a half a gig file in under 4 seconds like we was supposed to.

8 bits in a byte.

If your connection is 2 Gb (bit, lowercase "b") you divide by 8 to get bytes. 2gigabit = 2000 megabits = 250 megabytes.

150mb = 18.75megabytes, half a gig file (500MB) would take roughly 27 seconds.
