8 bits in a byte.
If your connection is 2 Gb (bit, lowercase "b") you divide by 8 to get bytes. 2gigabit = 2000 megabits = 250 megabytes.
150mb = 18.75megabytes, half a gig file (500MB) would take roughly 27 seconds.
