Forums - Nintendo - Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked.

Damn, the name is LONG.

Anyway, I want to gather information about this game. First of all HOW GOOD is the Story? Is the Gameplay Repetitive? Replay Value? Am I going to be replaying this up to 5 times like Persona 4 or close to that?

Please begin.

Where do you live? EU or NA?
EU version has bugs and glitches. Don't get it if you live in EU.

America :)

I still think it's one of the best games on the 3DS...
I'm almost finished the game, and from what I can tell there is a fair amount of replay value...
There are different outcomes based on the choices you make and what you say to characters...
Some of the battles are really hard if you're completely new to the series (like me), but it's nothing a little level grinding can't fix...

Have a nice day...

The game has 4 different endings, if I'm right, lots of sub-quests, and charismatic characters, it's a great game, has everything a RPG needs, good art, difficulty, and a good story.

the game is very good. I didnt bother getting all the good demos or endings (lack of time more than anything else) but it is a good game.

Im playing through it right now, it is really good and you should really pick it up! Also if you like it dont forget to pick up Devil Survivor 2 3ds when it comes out.

It is a great game, good story and one of the nicest New Game + bonus I have ever experienced making subsequent play throughs only as difficult as you want to make them. Not sure about Europe or Japan but the English voice acting for the NA version was excellent.

If you like JRPGs, strategy gaming or games that give you wildly different routes in most cases, then Devil Survivor Overclocked is the game for you. It is the definitive version IMO, although I recommend not rushing to get the DS game Devil Survivor 2 like I did because it is getting a 3DS remix version released (in Japan at least) later this year.

I havent ever played a games on this franchise, but coming from Atlus and with a similar combat system to Atlus's Etrian oddyssey, and a bigger focus in storytelling, i think its pretty safe to asume this game is good.

I have preordered mine, should reach this coming weak.

Devil Survivor Overclocked is a different game from Soul Hackers.

Anyway, I only played the DS version. Overclocked version is better.

Story - yes it's pretty good and interesting. The game has anime characters but it's definitely a "Megaten" story. I think story is the one thing Devil Survivor 1 has over the second game.

Gameplay - Not really repetitive, especially if you like SMT combat. The combat basically works like a standard SMT game, turn based, but since it's a SRPG you can move. It's pretty fun. Overclocked has updated gameplay over the original by borrowing some improvements found in Devil Survivor 2.

Replay value - Devil Survivor 1 for DS was worth going two playthroughs for. Once for the main story and one story route, the other time for another route and the New Game+ boss. Overclocked has a few exclusive epilogues (an 8th day) that makes going through the game again more worthwhile. 3 or 4 of them I think. So for 100% you may have to go through the game like 5 times. I'm pretty sure you didn't have to do that for Persona 4 though lol.

Actually, to get all the achievements it is going to take more then 5 play throughs, there are five paths, 3 of which offer the 8th day playable epilogues but a few of the achievements can't be done if you go through certain routes and one of the 8th days gives you a choice early on that determines one of two ways the rest of the scenario plays out. That being said, it gives you incentives that make the next play through easier if you want and because of the way events and time is handled in the game, your choices on what to do can make each play through different then previous ones and the demons being available.
