Devil Survivor Overclocked is a different game from Soul Hackers.
Anyway, I only played the DS version. Overclocked version is better.
Story - yes it's pretty good and interesting. The game has anime characters but it's definitely a "Megaten" story. I think story is the one thing Devil Survivor 1 has over the second game.
Gameplay - Not really repetitive, especially if you like SMT combat. The combat basically works like a standard SMT game, turn based, but since it's a SRPG you can move. It's pretty fun. Overclocked has updated gameplay over the original by borrowing some improvements found in Devil Survivor 2.
Replay value - Devil Survivor 1 for DS was worth going two playthroughs for. Once for the main story and one story route, the other time for another route and the New Game+ boss. Overclocked has a few exclusive epilogues (an 8th day) that makes going through the game again more worthwhile. 3 or 4 of them I think. So for 100% you may have to go through the game like 5 times. I'm pretty sure you didn't have to do that for Persona 4 though lol.

Actually, to get all the achievements it is going to take more then 5 play throughs, there are five paths, 3 of which offer the 8th day playable epilogues but a few of the achievements can't be done if you go through certain routes and one of the 8th days gives you a choice early on that determines one of two ways the rest of the scenario plays out. That being said, it gives you incentives that make the next play through easier if you want and because of the way events and time is handled in the game, your choices on what to do can make each play through different then previous ones and the demons being available.
