Forums - Movies & TV - Have you noticed that after a 15-20 year drought, Cartoons are exciting, fun, creative, and smart again?

Heck yeah I've noticed this. Some cartoons today are fabulous!

Now only if the movie industry could do the same.....

Even animated flicks at the movies are now top notch and hardly ever fail to be huge money makers and quite good as well. Madagascar, The Croods, Rio, Various Pixar flicks, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek and many others have gotten movie goers excited for kids movies again. In the past I would groan when forced to see a kid movie. Now I do not really mind because they are usually really good.

That's because those 'kids movies' aren't kids movies at all. The producers realised that there was more money to be made by creating films that appeals to children and adults. You're probaby the first person I seen refer to Shrek as a kids film. Just becuase they're animated doesn't mean theyre exclusively for kids. You wouldn't recommend South Park or Family Guy as kids programmes would you.

Fuck no. Cartoons today are so lame that some supposedly grown men have resorted to watching ones based on a line of toy horses for little girls. It's enough to make me wish for a comet to wipe us all out.

I like South Park and Invader Zin...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I disagree, cartoons today bore me to tears and some of them are aimed at stoners and ironic manchilds.

I tried watching Adventure Time on Netflix, based on some buzz I'd heard scattered here and there.

I can only assume that the intended audience meets both those criteria.

Aaaaw hell yeah! I nominate this thread to best thread this year!

I''ve also noticed how the cartoons have become much much better since the mid 90s! This trend must have started somewhere 2005 or something... the super hero cartoons became much better and that new transforms (animated it was called) was the best since G1 imho. Turtles also made a return.

Nowadays I'm a dedicated follower of both the new Transformers and the new Turtles!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

By the way what makes a "cartoon"?

I love Archer but I won't call it a cartoon its an animated comedy.
