Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo aficionados .. Do you like games made by Sony?

I don't have a lot of time to play games so I tend to play in short bursts of 10-20 minutes. Nintendo games generally work well for this although I do enjoy a good meaty RPG once in a while.

So, there's really no Sony franchises I'd likely play if they were 3rd party. Maybe Sly Cooper.

As a Nintendo aficionado I like multiple Sony games (or Sony funded/published). Many of the games I like they have abandoned such as Ico/SOTC, the Arc the Lad series, Dark Cloud series, Wild Arms to a certain extent, legend of dragoon, Ape Escape and intelligent cube. But Gran Tursimo is top notch, so is MLB and Hots shots golf/tennis

This was a very interesting topic to bring up, OP, kudos on that.

An informative set of replies too. More "this, this and this" than I was expecting, really. Yet still many, many diamonds of Sony franchises (imo) un-mentioned by all but a few. Which is a shame, of course.

Shadow of the Colossus, God of War and Crash. Other than those I really don't care much about Sony's IPs. They're are good but don't really catch my interest.

There are a few games that I haven't played like Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank, but aside of those 2 I think I've played most well known Sony games.

Its funny that so many people mention second party or even third party.
Ratchet n Clank is made by insomniac its not part of sony
Spyro is also not sony IP (I loved Spyro on PS1!!!)
same goes for CrashBandicoot.
Heavy Rain is also not a Sony game.

Resistance is not as good as killzone

Sly is something I will take a look into since the new game looks interesting

I dont know about Twisted Metal never played it

Folklore (if this is Sony IP) is cool

You have a point with Spyro & Crash, but other than that, your post was a mess.

By your own definition: Resistance; Sly Cooper; Twisted Metal & Folklore are second party Sony games (i.e. developed by outside developers).  So they weren't even worth bringing up if you'd ruled them out in the opening paragraph.

Except, they are still Sony games.  Not first party developers, but they are still first party IP's, funded exclusively by Sony and published by them.

Do you consider Mario Party 1-8 & Luigi's Mansion 2 to be Nintendo games?  I do.  But by your own definition, you'd have to exclude them from a Nintendo list because they were made by second/third party developers.  Which seems kind of redundant to me, but each to their own.

Some Sony exclusives are overrated to me, I wouldn't enjoy series like the LOU or Uncharted. Little Big Planet IMO is only good for the user content. I would like god of war if it wasn't a Blood fest filled with QTE. I enjoy Infamous, and I've never played Sly Cooper. Sony fans also kind of exaggerate the quality of their games. IMO Sony should stick to consoles and stay out the hand-held market. If they did go third party, I wouldn't shed a tear.

I would like Gran Turismo , and God of War I suppose, cannot think of any real others

They don't seem to give a Jak about my favorite franchise from them. Aside from that I do like Ratchet and Clank and Sly. Rest is just meh, with GT being above that.

Naughty Dog has disappointing me this gen, I don't get their praise. GoW is too violent, or else it would be an enjoyable experience for me. LbP... yeah...

All in all, I am not that interested in Sony's games. They don't seem to cater to people like me.

Only game by Sony I liked was Spyro. If Legend of Dragoon counts then yeah but that's about it. Not fond of PS's first parties that much. Doesn't mean I don't like Sony. I'm a pround owner of PS 1-3/soon 4 and PSP(not vita).

I tried Ico, Heavy Rain, and LittleBigPlanet and couldn't get into any of them. I'd still like to try Shadow of the Colossus and Uncharted sometime, but considering Sony is 0 for 3, I'm in no rush.
