Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Fiscal Earnings - 70 Million Profit Year-End, Q4 - Loss (70 Million)

Soundwave said:

I think Nintendo is exaggerating how much of a loss the Wii U makes, especially at that ridiculous $350 price and the yen being much more favorable now than even in November when the Wii U launched.

It's a convenient cover story for under-performance in their overall business though.

Maybe Iwata will confirm Mario Kart U or something for Wii U this fall for sure (please understand!) ;).

If there's something sure, it is Iwata saying "please understand".

Just 3-4 more days. Wanna hear a lot of Wii U things, good or bad. I hope investor's are ready with a pitchfork in the form of severe questions.

2.3 Million Hard-Ware actually seems quite nice in my opinion. Let's just hope Nintendo doesn't pull a total Square Enix on that number and say, "Oh... well... we were expecting around 10 Million *troll face*

Well we already knew they were expecting more, though not specifically in Q4.  The initial 3DS forecast was 18.5 million.  They would need 5.79 million in this quarter to have met that.  That forecast was then cut to 17.5 million after Q2, which was then cut to 15 million after Q3.

I think 15 million-ish is going to be the new baseline for the 3DS on a yearly basis. The days of selling 20+ million handhelds a year are over. I'm not really even sure they'll hit 15 million.

Edit: Nintendo's Fiscal-Year earnings will be released on the 24th of April at 4:00pm Japan time (3:00 am Eastern).

Nintendo projects a loss for the loss based on operating income (20 Billion Yen); however, a net profit of 14 Billion Yen due to currency gains.

Nintendo estimated shipments figures this quarter are as followed:

- 3DS - 2.3 Million

- Wii - .5 Million

- Wii U - .9 Million

Analysts claims that Nintendo will post an annual loss of over 18.7 Billion Yen and a net profit of 14 Billion Yen

Analysts doubt that Iwata can commit to the 100 Billion Yen (1 Billion US) operational income for FY13.

Analysts projects Wii U sales at 9 million for FY13 and 70 Billion Yen operational income compared to 100 Billion Yen as outlined by Iwata.

I stand by my prediction from earlier. I doubt Nintendo will hit their mark, but they'll probably stay positive, even if only just.

That's taking some assumptions with regards to their production schedules and profit margins, but I'm thinking it's a pretty safe bet.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Tagging, it will be interesting to see what excuses come out of Iwata's mouth. Entertaining as well.

Please understand.

We didn't know you needed to have games to sell hardware. We also didn't know that releasing a console with dated technology at $350 without a hook like the Wiimote was a bad, bad idea.

Please understand.

I have the answer however. Even more ... Mario! And don't forget, Luigi!
