Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft pushed back next Xbox reveal because it's not afraid of PS4?

This actually kinda implies that microsoft is aiming for a wii-like console.
If sony having amazing hardware didn't scare them, then that means they're not focused on hardware.

or they have hardware that is not far behind in performance. I don't see why ps4-hardware should scare anyone.

Why would they push back an announcement if there was no pressure? It seems to me if you are comfortable with what you have, you go ahead with the (rumored) original announcement date.

On the other hand, if you feel changes need to be made, then you are forced to delay your announcement.

I would assume they mean no pressure to rush to announce the hardware. I'm not saying the PS4 announcement was premature, but they didn't even have a console to show.

I'm just basing my opinion on the part that said, "saw little competitive pressure from Sony."  If there is no pressure from a competitive standpoint, you just announce your great news and crush them.  The only other thing that makes sense to me is that the rumored announcement date was just wrong.

You some how read "little competitive pressure from Sony" as "no pressure."

It just means Sony getting the edge on announcing their platform didn't make them rush to make an announcement. DUHHH!!!!

You don't see why? Have you given it any thought?

1)if the harware is comparable, and they are feeling no pressure, then announcement earlier makes the mose sense. At announcement there will be only 6 months before release. Its not enough time to inform the public. Most consoles have nearly a full year at announcment. Furthermore if their hardware is comparable, and they believe sony will try to one up the hardware, that's good because it will increase the ps4 price which ms wants.

2)if they're targeting a diffrrent crowd, delaying announcement makes the most sense because it keeps sony thinking that the 720 is based on the wrong ideals (hardware) and is too late for sony to really copy anything. Hardware upgrading is one thing, but feature upgrading is another. If they believe 6 months is enough time and if they're trying to delay, it implies that they have something that will reach mass market attention fairly quickly that they don't want sony to see until it's too late.II

I have but I totally disagree with you in every point :)

Makes sense. PS4 is announced, but wont launch til November. As long as MS can match that release, they can announce whenever they please

they have no reason to be afraid of sony. I think it should be the other way around in my humbled opinion.

YEAH! that makes sense. no pressure huh..... if there is no pressure they are not paying attention. kinda reminds me of sony arrogance not but a few years ago riding the ps2 wave. so history might repeat itself it seems with a new victim of loving the smell of their farts and believe its all rosey.

to be fair MS hasn't farted in public yet, although we got some rumours from people that might have heard them farting on the toilet

lol I bet you do, but you don't really provide any reasoning, jsut words like "or they have hardware that is not far behind in performance". If you expect to have a disagreement, you really should provide the WHY rather than the WHAT. As in, if they have hardware that is not far behind in performance, WHY would they then not announce, UNLESS they were worried that Sony would just up the specs.

Do you see what I mean? Saying why you think a certain way is far more important than just making a statement.

I will not follow your strange logic which is, for me, based on a false assumption. I don't see any real signs why MS should be afraid of PS4. Technically they are most probably very equal, the rest has yet to be shown. I don't want to make any assumption by now and especially won't follow any theories that you provide. MS can only be afraid of that the NextBox will be a financial disaster and this can happen with or without PS4.

Specs have been decided for a while now. Seeing 360 vs PS3 in specs....I dont think specs are the forefront of MS's strategy anyway,at least now.

The timing change is all political and about timing (closer to E3). These are quiet months. Let Sony have them, its a long way til November.
