There seems to be a continued interest in games connected with music.  There was a time you had the likes of Dance, Dance Revolution, and its clones.  Then they seemed to wane as musical instrument/guitar games peaked in interest.  But now, it looks like what is hot is dance games again.  Are guitar and other musical instrument games around?  Can it be said dance games have supplanted musical instrument games?

Why do you want to see them dead?

I don't think they go away.  There is a decent sized part of the market that has an interest in doing something with music and gaming.  I am sure some form of music gaming will always be around at this point.

Very unlikely to happen. Dance and Fitness go hand in hand, and we are in a World obsessed by image. Dance/Fitness games will be around and popular for a long, long time. Dancing is more popular now than it ever has been and it just keeps growing.

Kinect 2.0 will be the go-to gaming device for these gamers, methinks.

The PS4 is also getting one of those cameras, so I wouldn't bank on Kinect getting these exclusive programs.  As for it being bad, not sure anything that makes working out more entertaining is actually bad.

And I guess now, fitness is likely to be the think that supplants dance.  Well at least dance as a guitar hero sort of thing.

I honestly enjoy Rock Band (and guitar hero a few years back) I'm not a huge music lover but I have a deep desire to sing, like I was meant to sing which is why I love rock band and still play it today (Rock Band 3 to be exact)

I tried both Dance Central and Just Dance. Dance Central was fun when I played it, Just Dance was terrible however. The most enjoyable parts of these games is watching other people play it.

I'm hoping for a new Rock Band game next gen, with all new instruments and what not.

well as long as my mom and sister have an xbox and kinect they will always buy dance games. I haven't bought a instrumental game since guitar hero Metallica and then that bubble busted, and now all i see are dance games for the most part. i ended up giving all band pieces too, no one wanted to buy it and i ended up giving it away to make room.
