Didn't think Minecraft was such a hit. Makes me jealous of X360 users because PS3 don't have this game.

Dude it is infinitely better on PC.  Intel 3000 can run it, so almost any laptop on earth can handle it.  Honestly only an Intel Atom would fail to run it well...

True except if you like to play it split screen with friends, who don't necessarily have to buy the game then.

Yeah I'll trade that for infinite worlds, better graphics, more mobs, taller skies, and MMO style wars where you build your own cities to fight other cities.  Honestly the Fat Princess like RTS wars that take up weeks to end are such a huge thing to miss out on.  No other game lets you do those kinds of things...

I remember Halo3 would regularly be 100-200k online before MW2 came out, but it's pretty quiet now. The guy is trolling.

Trolling? Sure I'm trolling... Oh God people can't see the Halo 4 MP is not popular like the previous Halos... the numbers after four months is depressing for the franchise... Halo 3 after this time had over 1 million players per day... even Reach had that.

You can say Halo 4 MP is not as popular as past games. That's one thing. Saying it's a flop is another.

And even compared to past games, the numbers are not terrible. No Halo game will ever approach Halo 3 numbers because as others have pointed out, there was NOTHING out to compete with it when it launched. MW1 came out a couple months later and it took awhile to really take off. Halo 3 sold as much in its first month as MW1 did on 360 in its first 3 months. It had no competition. By the way do you have a definitive source proving those other 2 games had over 1,000,000 unique users every day 5 months after release?

It's the best Halo multiplayer of all time and it's in the top 5 XBLA games. It's the 3rd most popular online shooter 6 months after release. COD is a phenomenon so it beating Halo 4 doesn't mean Halo 4 is a flop it just means that COD is THAT BIG. COD is just as good as Halo and if more people are playing COD that just tells me that more people like modern combat than Sci-Fi. I like both and prefer Sci-Fi, but it's just a matter of taste. Both are top of their class shooters. The only people that don't like Halo 4's multiplayer are the ones that still wish they could exploit Halo 2's broken gameplay to pwn newbs. Those of us that enjoy refinement can't get enough of Halo 4.

Referring to anything related to Halo 4 as a flop is a hilarious overstatement.

Halo 2 was amazing! Probably the best FPS next to the orignal Halo in my book. Halo 4 is amazing but no where near Halo 1 and Halo 2.

I disagree. Halo 4 is my favorite. I love all the Halo games and replay them all every year and even play them randomly just to replay those epic moments again and again. Halo 2 is one of my favorites and Halo CE will always have a special place in my heart. But Halo 4 does everything that makes Halo the best FPS series and I think it does it all better.

When Halo 3 was out, there were about 3 games worth playing online - let alone total for the system. Early in the lifecycle, and it was THE game.

Halo 4's lower player total daily isn't about the game. It's about choice. There are currently 952 Xbox 360 titles, and 536 XBLA titles.

That's 1500 games to compete with. And that's just on the one platform.

So if there's 50 million Live users, and maybe 60% are Gold members, that's 30 million players. Let's say only HALF the total titles are viable (some are so old and crappy no one is playing them.) 30 million divided by 750 games is 40,000 users. So IF EVERY gold user played a game EVERY night, then 40,000 per title would be expected. But of course that's totally unrealistic.

The fact that Halo 4 has the number of users it HAS off 8 million sales is remarkable - - not tragic. Some of your expectations are quite sad.

No, its not remarkable. It's actually pretty low. Expectations for a Halo game are very high, as they should be.

First 20 weeks...

Halo 3 - 7,250m

Halo - Reach -7,288m

Halo 4 - 7,975m

You set your expectations for Halo unreasonably high so you can spin it as a failure. It really is kinda sad.

Even if these sales are low for what you anticipated. I'm pretty sure its good enough to keep the series going.

It's funny how this fact is constantly ignored in this thread. I wonder why?

edit:

@Puggsly When I heard Vgking say that I really thought he was joking. I guess he ignored the fact Halo 4 had the biggest opening for a Halo game.

That's right, IN YOUR OPINION. A lot of us feel Halo 4 is the best its the best the multiplayer has ever been. I don't feel anything in Halo 4 is a step back. Maybe your nostalgia of the older games is the issue.

If that was only me .

Halo 3 has a better MP than Halo 4.

As a long time Halo fan i would agree with you the biggest reason is because of the ranking system H4 is not as balanced as it was in H3(ranked and social playslists 1-50 ect) it's too competitive for someone who is new to the game i had a friend join me for a MP match he mostly plays COD and he raged quit in 3mins because he couldn't get a kill and kept dying. Also i personally don't count it as a flop.

You're arguing the opposite of ethomaz. He posted and agreed with video saying Halo 4 lacks competition.

I'm not a particularly great player either, but I do okay if I'm not just running around aimlessly. Use a little strategy and give Big Team Slayer a try. I do better in there and more people play it.

They are low? What did you expect? It's out not even half a year, already more than every 10th 360-user bought the game. Do you have any proof on what your expectations were before release? Or do you adjust it everytime you need to? I remember the epic Manbearpig-Halo4-prediction-thread and how many were soooo wrong before.

Why did College's thread on the nextbox outselling the PS4 get locked for flamebait and this thread is still open when it's quite blatantly obvious what the OP's intention is.
