Theres always a possible Jak and Daxter.
Can someone update the sales for sly 4 cause they are off, trust me!
Let's give the numbers in Europe some time to build first, and as others have mentioned it was a small budget title with virtually no marketing. I don't see any reason why we won't see another game with Sly and the gang in the future.
Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

The game was made by Sanzuru studios instead of Sucker Punch, which were the people behind a few PS2 ports and the PS3 HD collection...So I'm guessing it wasn't that expensive to make. It would be nice but honestly, Sony killed most of their franchises chances over the last year by either terrible advertising or no advertising whatsoever. Hopefully if they do release a Sly 5, there will be actual advertising for it instead of feeding it to the wolves to die. |
Sony's marketing philosophy (or lack thereof) is the reason their games don't exactly break sales barriers anymore, and they need to change with the new generation if they want to build new franchises. They can't continue like this.

most likely seeing how a secret ending in sly 4 hinted a fifth game. not gonna spoil it for those who havent seen it. look it up on youtube if you wanna see it without having to go trophy hunting.
It'll sell with legs over holidays just like all the similar Sony franchises have done recently (LittleBigPlanet; Ratchet; Jak). Check the FW sales of things like Jak & Daxter Collection and Ratchet & Clank Collection vs. the lifetime sales.
With that said, it's off to a very poor start, that much is for sure.

I believe sony has recently replaced there marketing team. By what I've seen, they do seem to be better like with the last of us trailer during the walking dead season finale.

As long as the price doesn't change, the launch numbers are completely irrelevant.
I remember people talking about Madworld as a flop. Looking at it's sales now, nobody would think that it may have been one (700k). But knowing that the price was halved ~4 weeks after launch and that it could be bought for $10 (in the UK even for even as less as 3 pounds) another 2 months later makes it clear that even though it sold quite well, the revenue they've made from this game was rather tiny.
We may not, I personally blame Sony lack of advertisement. I seen nothing but God of War ads on TV but not one Sly Cooper ad. Though base on the game development budget, I'm not sure it Sanzaru spent alot to make the game, hinting it only cost $40.
If they do make a Sly 5, I say don't bother making a Vita version and focus on the PS4.
