Forums - Sony - Do you think we will ever see Sly 5?

It's quite clear the sales of Sly 4 were quite awful. I mean I remember that thread a few months ago when people were guessing and some people said majority of the poll predicted around 1 million and I was in the 600k boat, but I didn't think it would be stuck in the mid 100 thousands. So do you think we're ever going to see Sly 5?

Wow I didn't even know this game came out let alone in february. Was there zero advertising for this title or something? I do think there might be one eventually though, but I'm not familiar with how much the sly games usually sell or how popular it is. If they made it to 4, it has to be reasonably popular so there is hope for sly 5.

Maybe for Vita. Sly was never that big of seller even in the PS2 era.

It's not that clear to me.

First month sales based on NPD:

[PS2] Sly 2: Band of Thieves - 119,539 units (September 2004)
[PS2] Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves - 104,018 units (October 2005)
[PS3 + PSV] Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time - At least over 117,000 units (February 2013)

I think considering the small budget the game had it did great.

How are the Europe sales going? It was only released on March 29th over there.

No advertising probably has something to do with the bad sales. I bought it and it is just as enjoyable as the older ones. Maybe that's the problem, for $30 you can have the first 3 in HD.

Sly 2 sold 1.8 million, the original sold 1.2 and the collection sold about 500 thousand.

According to VGC, an underwhelming 12,970 copies in the first week. Didn't even make it to the top 10. It sits at 28. Probably will take 2-3 weeks before it fades into oblivion. What a shame.

Actually, it was on the top ten for feb. but VGC undertracked it by a lot!

It may at some point but not soon. This Sly 4 is going to have decent legs so sales will steadily climb throughout the year and may do well during the holidays depending on price and how PS4 effects things. I would rather a decent developer work on a proper Jak and Daxter game.

I don't know if anybody has been paying attention to the Jak and Daxter collection's sales but its already passed the Sly collection even thought it released a year and a half later. Hell Jak's collection is out selling Ratchet and Clank Collection so far his year.

2013 Sales (lifetime)
Jak Collection- 78,638 (503,374)
Sly Collection- 22,045 (493,262)
Ratchet- 61,084 (320,176)

PlayStation Vita Japanese Software Sales (Media Create Physical/ Famitsu Digital)

Well it certainly won't be stuck in the 100k region, though since it was released at a budget price to begin with there isn't much that could improve financials except much more sales.

I can only guess how high the budget was for the game, but considering it also got a Vita version, it's probably in the $10m range.
Using our sales numbers they've earned about $4m back so far (total revenue is ~$6.5m). So without a further price cut the game "should" be profitable at around 500k (PS3+Vita without further price cuts) assuming there weren't any marketing costs (though I guess there were at least in magazines and maybe online as well)
