No, not reasonable. As I said in another thread, gamers might be too angry about MS keeping their mouth shut to care. It's not like everyone's going to just bend over and be happy about MS taking them on for a ride.

As far as I know Machiavellian tactics are not held in high regard.

Man, you are right, these tatics are in a way, very mean, but, they work. I remember when I was a kid and worked at a little company. The salaries were awful and everyone was pissed. Then, the manager said it would have to take our food bonus, which was a basket of food the company used to give us. Everyone got really sad because our families depend on that. Then, the manager said he decided to NOT take the food away, everyone got happy.

My father gave me the book from Machiavel and said that it would help me to understant what happened. I read and left the company 2 weeks after.

Your story made me LOL for some weird and twisted reason. I could just picture a group of people going "Awwww" and then the manager comes right back out, says jk and the crowd goes "wooopie!"

I think we are able to watch a historic moment here in this generation

for first time Sony and Microsoft fans agree on an issue!

they agree, that a always on next gen XBox is a good thing.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

LOL, awesome =D

Dude, it was in Brazil at 1998, we really needed that food. Things are awesome these days for me, thank God, but it used to be pretty bleak, but I laughed really hard at you comment bro.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I hear ya man. I am from Colombia and i remember my dad telling me that the reason we decided to leave the country was because the company he was working for was having some tough times and they were starting to pay their employees with fish (he's a marine biologist) and his field of work, overall, was not thriving. We got out of there just in time and we are currently very happy living here in the States.

Sadly, this isn't the truth.

For starters this is way too massive. In a small company like from your example it works because only a few people know the truth. With Microsoft however hundreds of people would have to be in on it. Then what does Microsoft do about lower level/outside people? Do they fill them in or tell a lie? I'm really devs would love to know they are all just gears of Microsoft's clock. Take Adam Orth for example. Even if Microsoft crafted every one of his tweets as part of this plan, he's still screwed. The public now sees him as an angry jerk. He even has become a meme. This stain will follow him for years. Now what if instead of him blowing up about this because he's in the loop, he blew up because he actually believes the system will be always online? Microsofts dirty attempt at marketing has cost him his career, at least that's how the news will report it.

So this theory assumes Microsoft is being super smart, they have this all figured out perfectly. Sadly if they were that smart they'd instantly realize it's a horrible idea. It's 100% not what we're hoping. Case closed.

This is why M$ fans needed to bitch at them

there needed to be a backlash so that M$ could know that the majority DONT want that always online shit. The point was to make a big backlash to make sure that M$ drop this wack ass idea BEFORE they announce the 720

so if M$ comes out and confirms that they will NOT have a mandatory always online feature then you know that the backlash did its job

Very cool =D I am still in Brazil, but I got a really good job...

There are only four options:

Always on, happy with rumour - Bad obviously and unlikely, is this really how you would want to let everyone know?
Always on, sad with rumour - Also very bad, and they didn't get a chance to spin it so looks even worse to the potential customers.
Not always on, happy with rumour - Pretty bad, as they must have quite a terrible console if their strategy is "it could be worse guys".
Not always on, sad with rumour - Mostly good, the console might actually be ok, but they have bad buzz before they have even started.

So personally, I am hoping they are unhappy and that it isn't true.

Or alternatively there was never any need for a backlash.
