Sadly, this isn't the truth.
For starters this is way too massive. In a small company like from your example it works because only a few people know the truth. With Microsoft however hundreds of people would have to be in on it. Then what does Microsoft do about lower level/outside people? Do they fill them in or tell a lie? I'm really devs would love to know they are all just gears of Microsoft's clock. Take Adam Orth for example. Even if Microsoft crafted every one of his tweets as part of this plan, he's still screwed. The public now sees him as an angry jerk. He even has become a meme. This stain will follow him for years. Now what if instead of him blowing up about this because he's in the loop, he blew up because he actually believes the system will be always online? Microsofts dirty attempt at marketing has cost him his career, at least that's how the news will report it.
So this theory assumes Microsoft is being super smart, they have this all figured out perfectly. Sadly if they were that smart they'd instantly realize it's a horrible idea. It's 100% not what we're hoping. Case closed.
