This is not Machiavelli. This is hubris.

Microsoft has created a (semi) walled store for Windows 8, is moving Office to subscription and cloud, and working with EA -- of SimCity always on infamy.

Thats stage 1 in the grieving process just 4 more to go. Next one is Anger.

Its possible MS does it, might not happen but its possible. But one thing I would bet on, what happened is not some elaborate marketing hoax.

This is why M$ fans needed to bitch at them

there needed to be a backlash so that M$ could know that the majority DONT want that always online shit. The point was to make a big backlash to make sure that M$ drop this wack ass idea BEFORE they announce the 720

so if M$ comes out and confirms that they will NOT have a mandatory always online feature then you know that the backlash did its job

Fortunately MS fans didn't need to bitch. Sony fans did that for us. God knows they love to piss and moan about a console they have no interest in.

If MS really does that it'll be MS that really suffers, not the consumer. Much of the 360 userbase isn't even online. That makes it quite clear mandatory online isn't not a smart idea.

no they didn't lol

that bitching shows that the fans are vocal though

but if anything, the majority of Sony fans were rubbing it in lol

Most of the people bitching never had any intention of ever buying any console from MS to begin with. Look at the avatars, sigs, and even the names of the posters if you recognize them. It isn't the sound of disappointment, it's the sound of joy. Any rumor that paints the next Xbox in a negative light is considered fact almost immediately. But somehow the PS4 is amazing even though the "accomplishments" people are bragging about are things that MS was doing for nearly 2 gens.

PC-like architecture?
Decent development environment?
Large unified pool of RAM?
Custom GPU with efficiency in mind?
Reaching out to indi devs?
Heavy emphasis on online and social aspects?

This is basically a new Xbox and you guys are loving it without even realizing it. It proves that MS had the right idea all along. When the PS3 was knee deep in shit, Sony fans found a way to spin it. I'm not surprised about the way these rumors are getting handled, and it's a little disgusting to say the truth.

If these rumors are true, fine, I say fuck MS. But what if they aren't? What will you bitch about then?

Indeed they did. Even on VGChartz its Sony fans posting the rumors and blogs. Its the non-fans that are most vocal.

MS fans are just waiting for announcements. Funny how you spin something so clear.

oh so the people who posted the threads about the M$ always online sh!t are "bitching and moaning"? <-- this is what you call a spin

if anything, i'm the only Sony fan who has remotely bitched and moaned about the rumor. but it's not like i bitched to M$ though

idk.. you give me the impression that M$ fans just sit back like trained robots or somesh!t and are too scared and quiet to speak out to M$..

Even If MS reveals an Xbox without DRM (the scenario which pleasantly surprises everyone), you cannot say it's not a reaction to the uproar Adam caused.

Or it could be that they were never going with it at all.

Its something to talk about. I don't think Sony Owners are an uniform hivemind. Some people might use the those rumors to troll others but I guess alot of people myself included are worried it could truly happen and set a trend for future consoles.

But if that were to happen to Sony an Nintendo people would equally freak out about those rumors.

Aslong as everyone is aware its speculation based on rumors I don't see why people should not talk about it.

I also believe that there are less hardcore Sony fans than people think. Most people just want the superior product that fits their needs best and are pissed if it doesn't look that way.

I am a console opportunist and have no shred of brand loyalty. And I really hope MS surpasses PS4 actually based on the 360 I assumed they would, (and I love that Sony followed MS design philosophy and even improved upon it), but especially the way Orth acted made me think what if those rumors are true ?
