MS got 10,000 comments on Gamespot booming in an article. Everybody wants to know how's that console gonna be. Nobody remembers about them delaying the announcement for this month. Xbox haters will concentrate on the console announcement along with insecure xbox owners. This is a massive build up for the neighboring console announcement, unlike 90% of people out there, I think M$ is very confident and know what they're doing. I believe the rumors are just going to benefit Microsoft on the road to the console reveal.

Sony have been quite vague about the used games thing. Chances are they are both building in the capability to block them, but won't pull the trigger until the competition confirms.

As for too bad to be true, I doubt it. If they provide a better service (or spin things to make it look like they are) then they can get people to buy it anyway. I mean just look at Xbox Live. I just think they got unlucky with how it was revealed.

Kinect with every console has been confirmed through multiple pieces of documentation.  Microsoft target price is also $300 with Kinect.

The question honestly boils down to, does always connected have anything to do with DRM, and the answer is no.

I think they effectively kill the second-hand market by undermining it.  If a disc-based game is limited to x number of installs on x number of devices by x number of users, then the market for second-hand game discs becomes unreasonably risky for the gamer and retailer. 

I don't know, I knew Kinect 2 had been practically confirmed, but with every console?

It just seems like a huge cost for very little gain. I really don't believe the target price either. I'm in the UK but I looked up the US Amazon and a current Xbox with Kinect and only a 4GB HD is $290 there. I have no idea how they could afford to offer a next gen console + a new Kinect for anywhere near that price =/

I don't think that's the case. Most likely Microsoft is going whole hog on this unless the backlash they've received convinces them otherwise (and they are so pigheaded that I doubt it will) whereas Sony is going to give third parties the ability to have always on DRM just as they already did on the PS3 (although I think only Capcom has used it). So PS4 owners can probably expect to see all multiplatform games have always on DRM as well, only it won't technically be Sony's fault and they can just say, "Take it up with the publisher of that game."

I also think these are all lies, none of these rumors are positive, doesn´t make sense, the PS4 had rumors like 4k res, 5gb ram, stuff like that, why the Nextbox would be so weird and bad all of sudden? I don´t believe it.

Based off what Gamestop said, I don't think that the Nextbox will block used games. However, I do think that it will require an always online connection to stop piracy. If that part wasn't true, Microsoft would have denied it by now.

This too, I think MS is letting these lies to spread, so, when the reveal that the console is actually very cool, it will sound much more awesome.

In his book THE PRINCE, Nicolau Machiavelli TEACH THIS VERY SAME MOVE, he says to let bad rumors to spread through the land for a little while, them, very stronglly, reveal that the reality isn´t so bad, it makes people happy.

The same principle is used in companies when the employees want a salary raise. The management let it out some rumour of downsizing and other bad measures, after a while, no one want raises anymore.

Thanks to these rumors, when the NEXTBOX is revealed, and it plays used games and offline ones, everyone will think this is as awesome as the second coming of Christ.

Scenario 1: MS reveals that the next XBox is not always online after months of rumors and everybody's like "We're so sorry Microsoft! We shouldn't have believed those awful awful things everybody's been saying about you! Please please forgive us, we'll be good boys and girls from now on."

Scenario 2: MS does the same and everybody's like "FU Microsoft, you should've said something sooner! We're already hyped for PS4 now and aren't changing our plans."

Which one do you think is more likely to happen in case the rumors somehow aren't true?
