I think most of us crowned the 3DS as winner some time ago.

Hell, I'm willing to crown the 4DS the winner too.

It's clearly the winner, I doubt Vita will reach 30 million in its lifetime. The question however is
what next? With Apple and Android proving such so popular with gamers will Nintendo, Sony or even Microsoft
bother investing massive amounts of money into R&D then a launch of a new handheld console in the years to
come? Nintendo may give it a try in 3-4 years but IMO Sony will cut their losses post Vita, any the talk of a few years back that Microsoft was ready to enter the handheld market has well and truly ceased.
This could be the end of an era - I for one am bummed because a mere touch screen cannot always provide the level of depth that make a good handheld title.

In all logic the 3DS should've lost, but then it turned out that the 3DS just had a vastly better library. CoD on Vita being one of the worst reviewed games ever didn't help.

Really hope that Nintendo saw that software support on 3DS is what helped them and not the 3D thing.

Obviously 3DS will be but i won't say anything until all 8th gen consoles are out for at least 1 year (so 2015) As they will all be properly introduced by then. The Vita is selling much closer to 3DS in Japan since the price cut

It's one of the greatest consoles I've ever owned. I'm so glad it's successful!

Don't care how much the 3ds sales. I had the Zelda 3ds bundle for a about 6 months. My vita got more play time in the first week than My 3ds ever saw. So for me Vita>3ds. Vita's a better system, Sales mean little in that regard.

Nintendo really set themselves up for failure with the 3DS. All their early decisions were wrong, if the Vita had gotten the support promised, it would have been closer, but it got nothing, and continues to get nothing.

I think Nintendo knows this already, most of the ads don't even bother mentioning the 3D effect, just gameplay

I think I've read an article in the past few months stating exactly this, can't seem to find it though. But with the bombardement of high-quality games this year (Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon...) I think it's safe to assume Nintendo did in fact get the message^^

I disagree. The 3DS is one of the Nintendo's greatest consoles. The 3D was a huge selling point for me and helps it stand out amongst all the other portable gaming devices. 3D gaming is defintely the future. It's like looking though a window into another world. Luigi's Mansion 2 looks incredible. I feel like I'm in the mansion. The 3DS just had a lack of software at the beginning and was priced a little to high.
