In this kind of industry, if a rumor keeps popping up, time and time again and isnt disproved then it's most likely true, it sounds completely shit, and im not sure Microsoft are that oblivious to their consumers wants, i wonder what they are gaining from an always connected console?

What can Microsoft disprove it when it's not even exist?

Of course it exists, you act like its not even been in developement, silence is never a good thing

It's not exists,it's in development, but they never announce it,so it's not exists,to the public, and these medias,is reporting rumors to the public, even they confirm or deny it,that means they accidentlly announced the console, and let's say if they deny the "required online" rumor, then people will disscus something else like "why they didn't also deny block used games rumor?that must be true!",that's why they won't say anything about 720 since

You make a valid point, but its coming to a point where these rumors are being taken as facts, microsoft need to do something quick to stop this negative publicity

that's just nonsense. This is PR we talking about. They can debunk these rumors if they want to without even mentioning a new console. They can just say we will continue to be consumer friendly and not alienate any gamer going forward or something similar.

The only reason I can think of, IF this is not true, is that they think debunking the rumors at the reveal stage would create more hype. I personally don't think that's a good idea to wait that long.

These medias are not talking about "every Microsoft software will require online or "360 will require online",it's "720 will require online",if they reply anything about these rumors, that means 720 just suddenly announced.

They won't even say anything even there is a postive rumor.

But like I said if they say they something similar to what I suggested they won't have to mention the console at all. I mean they don't 'have' to respond to a certain article/media outlet. Just a general statement

and who are we kidding? MS isn't as stupid to think people don't know there's a new xbox coming soon. They have teased it themselves in recent times. There is no big hurdle or negative impact of them making comments about their future plans/consoles. But like I said they might be thinking it will be a good idea to wait for the reveal to do this but I don't think it's a good idea.

I find it almost impossible to believe as it seems like a death sentence for the console.

Then again I find it very unlikely that all these many inside sources are wrong. They have all been saying the same thing for the past 12 months.

GameStop's latest comments convinced me that these rumors can't be true.

Your general consumers will probably pick up an Xbox without knowing all the shitty DRM is will have. Example: Sim City.
Besides, Gamestop said nothing about always-online, all they said was that it would be a hot product. For all we know Microsoft forbids negative public statements about their yet-to-be-annouced console. In reality, the Gamestop comment means nothing except that it might actually play used games.

Cant wait for them to drop this bomb and see the reactions across the interwebzzzz.

it will be funny to see if a thing like this will sell.

They won't annouce this. It will just be in he back of the box in really really small print. So unless an interviewer directly asks this question, don't expect any announcements.

HERE'S MY THOUGHTS ON THIS RUMOR.

This is a horrible decision if ture. Not even our smarphones require a signal/connection to work. Xbox fans better pray this is false.
Is there a chance this could be only for developer consoles? It would make sense for dev kits to be always-online so MS can track them and know where they end up and who uses them. But the rumor specifically mentions consumers consoles so I don't see how anything could be lost in translation.

This.

This will hurt Microsoft real bad. First they ask you to pay to play online, then consentrate on casual gaming and now they will not let you play if your console is not connected to the net. This is real bad for us gamers. Let's hope Nintendo and Sony don't adopt these terrible practices!!

Its over for MS
