Forums - Gaming - Sabotage and mis-information should be bananable offences?

Take, for example, the debacle of UE4 on the WiiU.

You get a lot of people pulling facts out of their asses. It's so bad that I often don't bother correcting them anymore.

What do you think?

Can you give us an example?

your avatar should be a bananable offense.zing!!!!!!!!!

It depends on what people define as sabotage or misleading

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

'When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called the people's stick'- Mikhail Bakunin

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

I've been defining "over-the-top hyperbole" as trolling for a while now. Wouldn't be too hard to work FUD in there.

Cue all the folks claiming "but that's just like, my opinion man."

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well....initially it would be hard to do much since it is usually ignorance or people working on misleading information, not creating the misleading information themselves. Knowledge needs to root itself and become standard for action to be considered. Outside that, real information, no matter how true and hurtful, if it is used in specific ways that are "bananable" (I c wut u did there) then they will be dealt with.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Maybe if there's a heated argument taking place over an obvious fact, a moderator could step in and declare that THIS is the truth, and anyone insisting otherwise in this thread from this point forward will receive a warning. Because outright lying can be a form of trolling.

Thanks, Galaki.

This really needs to be addressed. This site to really starting thinking about the balance between freedom of posting and driving away quality posters. The number of trolls, misinformation providers, inciters and just all around ass hats has made it very hard to have any reasonable level of conservation and discussion. Especially in the Nintendo section.

There is a difference in posting a new story for the sake of honest dialog that is negative in nature and posting negative news with the intent of angering other posters. I've seen several members that do absolutely nothing but bash Nintendo in any way they can and never, or rarely, ever post in any other boards.

Several months ago I started a "do not feed the trolls" campaign as a way to combat the problem but that was ineffective. You need more progressive actions now or else you risk irrevocably harming your forum by allowing an uninviting atmosphere that protects the troll and punishes the member that just wants to talk games.
