There is a difference in posting a new story for the sake of honest dialog that is negative in nature and posting negative news with the intent of angering other posters. I've seen several members that do absolutely nothing but bash Nintendo in any way they can and never, or rarely, ever post in any other boards.

Several months ago I started a "do not feed the trolls" campaign as a way to combat the problem but that was ineffective. You need more progressive actions now or else you risk irrevocably harming your forum by allowing an uninviting atmosphere that protects the troll and punishes the member that just wants to talk games.

Don't feed the trolls is sage advice, of course. I tend to be the person who can't let people spouting ignorance go unchallenged, but i suppose i (and others) need to learn the lesson that you can't fix stupid.

no, you have people pulling specualation out of their asses.  i'm not sure which side is bothering you more but i've seen both sides of the arguement and both nintendo fans and haters are making shit up.  err,. i mean speculating.

to your point though, i don't know where you draw that line.   i dont' want to go back to the "i'm a mod and i don't like what you are saying so i'm going to ban the shit out of you" days of a year or so ago.

True, you can't fix stupid.  But you can provide an atmosphere that recognizes and rewards intelligence (or atleast quality dialogue) and punishes that which disrupts that quality.    Those that post in a manner and with the intent to anger others, elicit emotional reorts, distrupt otherwise peaceful discussion, etc...should not be welcome here.

There is a difference between being misinformed and intentionally misinforming others.  Especially with the intent of inciting frustration in others.

One is understandable.  The other should be worthy of a ban.

so who is misinformed and intentionally missleading?  you have some people taking the fact that epic will not support wiiU with UE4 to presume that wiiU will not have any substantial third party support in the future.  you have others taking the fact that UE4 is scalable to presume that wiiU will still get substantial third party support.

 

listen.  in the bad old days there were a bans against users for stating things that at the time seemed like "misinformation" and in the end turned out to be truth.  i don't want to go back to that.  sorry, but i don't trust any of our mods to enforce that kind of a rule.  it will instantly lead to abuse in power and a sucky, shitty, terrible community. ..again.

I'm not talking about a ban on misinformation by itself but misinformation with the intention of frustrating others.   If you post info that turns out to be wrong later on, well, that sucks but certainly not something to be banned for.  If we all had perfect foresight, we'd nail the predictions threads every week.
