Forums - Nintendo - Zelda Finale: Skyward Sword

Do you feel the Zelda franchise need to end or go on?

End the series, it had a good run. 20 12.50%

Go on with the series. 140 87.50%

Total:160

Nah, it can last. They should just shake things up a bit and merge the timelines, then start a new era.

First of all there are no Zelda timelines. There are Zelda games but if you try to make sense out of them... well then good luck with that, And Nintendo is not known for stopping its major franchises any if they make them money. And I think The Legend of Zelda does not need to stop it needs to change.

Umm...Nintendo released an official book with an actual timeline like a year ago.

"There is no timeline!" is something people used to say when we didn't have the timeline in hand but that's not the case anymore.

Ok then explain it

No way dude. The series are awesome.

Anyways perhaps a reboot is in order. Come up with a consistent timeline and history, and do away with the silliness.

Ending it on Skward Sword would be an atroscity. That game, or rather motion plus advertisement, was the only Zelda I didn't bother finishing. So glad I borrowed a copy from a friend first before wasting $70+ buying it.

Are you suggesting a more realistic and "westernized" D&D aproach? That would be like going directly into the core of the silliness imo...

To me, Zelda is about a unique story with every game while keeping the fundamentals of the "zelda experience" in tact. With this, I don't feel like the franchise will ever need to stop, nor will it feel "finished" in my eyes (unlike some other IPs).

If I had it my way I would have a new Zelda game created every few years for the rest of my life. It's a gameplay experience I never get tired of, and I always love the new stories.

When LoZ: The Lens of Truth comes out on Wii U, you will all be happy this series didn't end.

With the second screen as the lens?  Hell yes!  Sign me up for that.

Yeah I was expecting some people would go down the slippery slope and outright assume that. Now I regret I didn't ellaborate further.

I just want the silliness removed. It's bad as in 'Red XIII disguising as a human on FFVII' bad. When most of your audience, and I don't think you're going to disagree with that, is either composed of late teenagers and young adults, there's a fine line to thread between humor and outright breaking the suspension of disbelief with some failed attempt at comicality or lightheartedness.
