Forums - Nintendo - What will they plug into the Wiimote next?

So with the unvailing of the Wiimote one of the most promising features was the acessory plug. It allowed for the Nunchuk add-on and classic controller to be added on the cheap. Additional controllers became wirelss and required no batteries so I assumed that we would gets lots of interestin controller possibilities.

So far we have gotten mostly crap.

The only new thing that plugs in is the Guitar from Guitar Hero. That in itself is frustrating because they used the combination so well while ohers have failed.

Sure we have been given steering wheels, fishing rods, lightsabers, and untensils but thsoe were all shells. Nintendo themselves made the zapper a useless hunk of plastic. Due to the silly button placement I still get more realism out of Duck Hunt.

What is so wrong with making a gun shell that has buttons on it in the right spots?

The balance board in Wiifit is a seperate controller with a monster amount of bateries. The ddr pad from Hottest Party plugs into the gamecube memory card slot for pete's sake.

Since the system is relatively new and 3rd parties are just starting to get the hint, I will revisit some of the possibilities I was thinking of when the Wiimote was unvieled.

Alternate Classic Controllers- What is better than getting to play all your old classic favorites? Playing them with controllers exactly like the originals. Imagine a Genesis or Turbographics controller. How about n64. They might even still have a warehouse full of those.

Health Monitor- If they are doing the exercise thing with Wiifit, why not have a heart rate monitor on your wrist that attaches to the Wiimote.

Keyboard- What is better the usb keyboard support? Wiimote keyboard support for chat and internet.

Headset- A no-brainer that is probably a non-starter in friend code land.

Mic- Every game so far makes me plug them into the usb port. Lame. Wires are so last generation

Splitter/Extention Cord- A longer cable may be available but imagine a splitter device that allows many devices to attach to the wiimote or for wierd crazy multiplayer.

Wiimote-Wimote connection- Your teammate flicks his wrist translating into a vibration in your controller. Information passes without anyone else in the room knowing it.

Rockband instuments- Everyone snaps their wiimote into their instument. It sould save all kind of money without havign to build the control/communicato/cord features in.

What do you think?

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

You got plenty ideas for this don't cha?

Personaly, I think we don't need many of these type of things. The last thing we want is a bunch of third party crap that adds on to your wii-mote!

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

Yeah, basically teh problem comes down to the fact that too many peripherals will cause a lack of support for any of them.

Personally, I had an idea for a rumbling nunchuk with a built in microphone, as well as having a second motion sensor that was at the end of the piece that plugged into the wiimote, allowing for a sixaxis-like effect on the wiimote whenever that upgraded nunchuck was plugged in.

I was thinking of that Rock Band idea too. It would make activating Star Power or whatever it's called a lot easier. Just tilt the microphone up like you're singing upwards in to it (or whatever position they choose).

A splitter could be useful too.

And what about a Wiimote-to-Wiimote connecter? Nunchuk fights, anyone?

In the land of microphones and headsets, wouldn't those be Bluetooth enabled, and just sync up with the Wii anyway, instead of through the port?

But that would take up Player slots, wouldn't it?

It's only designed for 4 devices to connect via Bluetooth (correct me if I'm wrong).

supposedly, you could connect more, but honestly, it's hard enough making sure those various connections all hook up properly, plus, it's hard to decide if the first microphone is the first player's or the second players if you're doing it all wirelessly. When the connection is physical, the system automatically knows that everything being sent on this signal is player 1 and everything on teh other signal is player 2, etc.

They need a connector that would connect the remote to a charger that would connect to the Wii. Then you could charge while you play. If they made a splitter, you could charge while playing with the Nunchuk/Classic Controller as well.

The problem with having lots of different Classic Controllers is the number of buttons. A NES Controller couldn't play N64 games, for instance.

I know I may get a warning (or even a temp ban) on this one, but I think they should ad a fleshlight. It's definitely an untapped market and seemed to work well for Rez. ;)

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

VGChartz Resident Thread Killer

We need sega bass with a Dreamcast like Conroller built over the wii remote, Like a shell that clamps over the top and bottom, all new button layout and just the motion control for rod motion.

I hate fishing but im so getting sega bass wii if it comes and if the attachment is good.

Also generally hate sega games, and i still want this.
