So frustrating I want one of these phones but I just cant stand anything bigger than 4.2" I wish they would of stuck to that.

IF they choose to update, unlike some of us poor Galaxy Tab 10.1 users who got shafted with no Jelly Bean update (well at least not from Samsung).  HTC might take their time but the releases when they come are stable and show significant improvements usually.

It really comes down to which phone you like the look of and which interface suits you best Sony's, Samsung's Touchwiz or HTC's Sense.  I love sense which is why I went with the One X over the S3 last year and I don't regret the decision.  There is no right or wrong answer at the end of the day as a bit more power here or there really will not impact your daily use, pick the phone that will make you smile when you use it.

Get the Xperia Z. Specs wise the other phones are a bit better(because they release 2 months later), but in real world situations you won't even notice the difference.

The contrast ratio is really mediocre, leading to bad colors. the screen looks lifeless. Viewing angles are also quite poor. I don't know whether it is a result of being waterproof or not but this is a common problem for Sony screens from what I hear. If the screen was replaced with the HTC's screen I'd buy it in a second.

Xperia Z is the better option and you can get it now, i don't know if the HTC one is out yet, but the S4 won't be out for some time. I just upgraded to the Xperia T, and that was just an awesome phone, Xperia Z will only be better. I though the camera and screen (and everything else) were excellent on the Xperia T, they will only be better on the Xperia Z. Android Jelly Bean is also a nice OS, i love how fast and smooth it is. Android has certainly evolved these past few years.

I talked to the guy yesterday and he said he will have the Xpheria Z(black and purple) and the HTC One in next week and won't charge me more than $250 for either so I will have one or the other for sure next week!
