I wonder...did the Wii shrink or expand the "core" Nintendo fanbase?

Like the people who love Zelda, 3D Mario and stuff like that.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

All I can say is all of my friends who loved Nintendo pretty much sweared them off after the Wii.  One ex-N fan even said "F@ck Nintendo, I hope the Wii U does bad so they learn!"

I think that is a little harsh, but honestly I cannot figure out why anyone would think the Wii made the core happy.  The Gamecube I owned brought me a ton of great games I will never forget, but the Wii just was not what I wanted...

Around 40m

My guess is 50m minimum, around 70m max. Being an optimist and a Nintendo fan I voted for 60 - 70.

50-60 million that is my guess. But if Nintendo decides to not release a Wii Sports game this year I will lower my prediction by 10 million.

My number is too precise...i think i can see the future...

It won't do well overall. It needed to appeal to the casuals again to but it failed to do that.

80-90 mil.

Why do you say that and then quote Mummelmann in your sig?

What does my sig have to do with that predicition?

It implies that you expect longevity from the system. So do you expect it to sell 10m per year on average for 8 or 9 years, unlike Wii which sold 15-20m on average for 3-4 years and then fell off quickly?

No it doesn't, you just see what you want to see. Im sure Ninty would rather have another platform selling 15-20 million on average for 3-4 years than a slower selling one taking 10 years to reach what its competitor did 3 years ago.

More than 50 million. Once people discover how fun it is the word will spread!! Its incredible potential hasn't been demonstrated yet. Nintendo nailed it with the Wii releasing 'Wii sports' straight off to demonstrate the Wii's potential.

I mean come on that asymmetric gameplay is genius!

Anyone who says 100+ is delusional.
