Squirrel please guys.
The beast that is the DS had a slow start
The 3ds had a bad start
Heck the PS3 and the 360 had a slow start
When a new console comes out - it starts really slow because of a lack of games.
Just as the 3ds picked up speed and momentum, so will the Wii U.

P.S. The prospect of a Xenoblade sequel alone got me to buy the console

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

lol @ idiots who voted "Underpowered", after this generation showed otherwise...

I didnt see many wii owners 'laughing out loud' when they missed out on game after game and watched their console die one of the slowest deaths ever. Meanwhile the "idiots" enjoyed...

Mass Effect Triliogy, Resident Evils 5 & 6, Final Fantasy 13, DMC, Fallout, Skyrim, COD...

There are plenty more 3rd party games that Wii missed. Yeah, Nothing to do with being "underpowered". The fact that both PS360 are outlasting it and thrashing its succesor Speaks volumes about the Wii's shortcomings.

Your comment just seems childish. I own a Wii, it had great games but i will never fool myself into trying to paint it flr more than it was.

And perhaps you didn't take into account that many didn't give a shit about those titles? the only one that got my interest in the slightest was FFXIII, and that was pretty short-lived.

Once again, the Wii sold VERY decently, DESPITE being underpowered. Your argument makes no sense to the original question, which was the WiiU console's lackluster sales.

So tell me, why would it be the "underpowered" reason if the Wii has disproven such a thing? surely such an underpowered console of the current gen wouldn't come CLOSE to 100 million, right? I'd love to hear your reasoning behind this crap.

^This.

P.S. Wii owners got arguably some of the best jrpg, platformers, and zelda games to date

Consumers, they don't understand, even if Iwata says "please".

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

So your saying that you didnt care about some of the greatest 3rd party games of any generation? I only listed a few i could see on my shelf. There are many more. But you just content yourself with Wii's 3rd party hits.

Wii sold brilliantly. Lots of people bought the console who would never normally have. And therin lay the problem. They bought party games, Wii fit and probably only switch it on for Just dance or Wii Bowling. My sister bought a wii and never played the bundled mario kart. Just played the wii fit. How many times do you think this pattern was repeated?  i loved the Wii. But again i know it was underpowered when it sat next to my PS360.

ive just answered why it touched 100 million. Casual gamers both made and destroyed the Wii. Wii U is its own parodox. Casual gamers may look at it and think "well i own a wii that i never use so im not buying that." 3rd parties have had their fingers burnt to often to take the plunge on wii u maybe? Or maybe the wii u cant support some of the games they have in the wings ready for nextbox and PS4?  As much as this may sting but on paper Wii U cant cope with a Ps4 game. Funny enough it kind of gives me deja vu...

Buddy i own Xenoblade chronicles, both zeldas and both mario galaxys. Pandoras tower as well as many others. The wii had fantastic games. My arguement is it reached 100 million units sold through casual buyers. At one point it was almost 30 million units ahead of the competition yet 3rd party support died off. Software sales slowed outside Nintendo franchises. Why?

Nope. Couldn't have given any less of a shit about them. A lot of others are also in the same boat. Deal with it.

So in other words, if the WiiU had the same appeal as the Wii, it WOULD sell well, even though it's underpowered? Thanks for proving my point, that console power does NOT make a difference in the WiiUs lackluster sales.

Low specs with a premium price. Make it 149$ which it should be and it will sell. Not for me though, I'd consider it at 99$.

Wow. So im on the wrong site if a lot of other people dont care about games.

Nothing much more to discuss really.

PS games are what sells a console. WiiU will live and die by the strength of it. Depending in wether or not it has the power to run multiplats. The casuals wont give it wii numbers this time.

Then why the hell are you arguing about "lack of power" when there's clearly a "lack of games" option on the vote?

Thanks for playing.

I think he means that lack of power is a potential reason for the lack of games. If devs are building games for a higher speced ps4 or next Xbox, they may not want to port to the Wii U.
