If true, then either Nintendo or Sony have won the next generation console war without lifting a finger.

My thoughts exactly.  Sure, MS fans will downplay these negatives, but once the word is out in the general public, many will stay away from the NeXbox. Especially if they block used games, then Gamestop will not be pushing the system.

What negatives? Not even block used games mentioned in this rumor XDK

it mentions that it wont support playing on disk , so disks are only used for installation , that means its a lot like PCs , you have to enter a serial key, which means no used games.

Won't support playing on disc=/=no used games or even need cd-key

They still can require you to have the disc in the machine

Don't tell me it won't read the disc,if it won't read the disc, how can you install the game?

It's more just like 360,but with require install this time

it says in the last picture that "Always online, always connected" and that it will not be able to "Play on disk" as the content of the game will not be streamed on disk but it will be used only for installation, its not like the 360 at all.

I read the same thread few hours ago in neogaf

You think i didn't notice that?

And are you "coldfoot" in neogaf, because you said same thing like him, which is not right

Disc checking is before start the game

Around the Network

There's no reason to block playing games from the disc itself. Mandatory installations aren't that bad if you only have to install a couple gigabytes, but forcing people to install the whole game onto their hard drive is ridiculous. I'm all for reducing load times, but I"m also for saving space and having not having to constantly worry that the next game I buy will fill up my hard drive.

Hmm, I wonder if they'll stick to proprietary hard drives for next gen.

I'm not sure it's problem or not since it said 720 can play the game few seconds after started the installtion

That means even you deleted the game, you can still play it again very quick

You can't play but install from Blu-ray drive and while installing you can play that game.
I really don't get it.

It's their way of giving Gamestop the middle finger. The console won't play used games.

That has nothing to do with whether the console is playing used games or not. First question is does the console check whether the disk is loaded when playing, second question is does "the system" check if the game (installed from the same disk) is running on two consoles. Essentially whether MS keeps a database of which game (serial number x) runs on which console (serial number y) or not.

Also the "play game while installing" is of course total bullshit, same total bullshit as in the PS4 presentation. If you want to run a game, you need the game code and game data variables defined in the ram, as well as the graphics data present when you start the game. What it means you will see non-skippable, lame introductions on your screen while the complete game and game data loads in the backrgound.

If the games are required to be installed before being played and the Blu-Ray disc isn't being used to stream game then that would make the disc useless beyond that first installation. There would be no reason to require people to insert that disc. So yes, this has everything to do with used games from the sounds of it.

Isn't this the same system that has always been on PCs? I don't see the connection between this and used games unless MS locks the game to the console or to your Xbox Live Account.

Think. If games are required to be installed then that means there is a system in place that prevents people from buying a game, installing it, then selling it. I'm betting something like a serial number or online pass. So you would still be able to sell the games, but people will need to unlock them with some kind of one-time fee.

In reality it will probably more like the 360. You buy a game, do the install, the 360 checks to make sure the disc is inserted (so you can't rent/buy/borrow used games and then return them right away). When you sell the game you simply won't be able to play it anymore. Although I do admit the mandatory install is a bit suspect, let's be honest; Microsoft won't be shooting themselves in the foot that bad. I'm fairly certain of that.

Id like 2 see how there going 2 manage the constant online feature.

No i don't have a neogaf account

and yeah? what does that change to used games? they will still require you to install and non of the content will be streamed on disk, hence you can't just buy a used game and play it, you have to "activate it"

Is that a new restriction? Because I've bought and sold used PC games before. I know you can't have two active serials at once (obviously) but once you uninstall the PC game from your hard drive someone else can buy/borrow it and install it onto their computer.

How you install the game then,i say again, disc checking is before start the game,it won't streamed the disc during gameplay=/=it won't check is the disc in the machine or not

Btw,it's "but during gameplay, games will not use content from optical disc",you forget fromer part
